I ordered my boat with a 4.3 V6, thinking I would have better range on Lake Mead. What a big mistake, not only the range is less, but noisey as hell. If I would have gone with the 305 or 350 I could cruise at 40 MPH without noise and go further. Thats one of the reasons for the CTD HO I just bought, getting the most possible available power, so there would be no regrets.

My 96 3500 came from Lago Alberto, my 05 from Saltillo. Build quality on both were very good.

A friend bought an 89 Chevy Silverado with 350 V8, 5spd and got about 5MPG better than me. And mine only had a 15Gal tank. Mine was a 3.9L as well. Only kept the truck about a year.

My '89 3500 Chevy 350 got 12 mpg every tank with an auto. Hauled tail but gulped gas. Rattled like crazy off highway. Neither of my Saltillo built Rams have squeaked or rattled.

Chevys were crap for fit and finish... My friend's 89 1500 got 17, I got 12. I don't know much about Chevys, so not sure how much a gasser 1/2 ton fuel mileage compares to a 1 ton gasser. Mine was 4x4, his was 2wd. Again, fit and finish on my Dakota was solid.

Wow, whoever gets that Laramie Longhorn truck with the actual 3,000,000th engine, is going to be worth alot of money.
