I want to replace my stock Michilin 265/75/16's with set of BFGoodrich T/A 295/75/16's (on stock aluminum rims). I'll have 40,000 on these by the time snow flies here in the snow belt of Upstate NY (average 200"/season). There is no way these will make it through another winter (you southern and southwestern guys must run these things until they are bald to get 80,000-100,000 out of them).
I stopped by my local Sam's Club to check on a price for the BFGoodriches. The price wasn't too bad ($159 per) but Sam's Club has a policy that prohibits them from installing oversided tires on a vehicle. To get them at Sam's Club, I'd have to take all five rims (spare included) to them and they will mount and balance them. I'll have to put them back on the truck myself.
While I am not opposed to changing tires, it is going to be a bit of a pain to block up the whole truck for a few hours just to get a set of tire put on.
There is one other chain in the area that sells Goodrich. I am going to check with them too. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this type of policy at any other tire retailers?
