Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) San Diego area diesel tech

I am approaching 100k and need to get a valve adjustment. I hate the "stealers" as much as most. I would prefer an independent diesel tech but the one I usually patronize is no longer in business. Can anyone recommend a shop here in the S. D. area? I guess I could always use the local Cummins shop, but would prefer not to. Also, should I replace the water pump while I'm at it as preventive maintenance even though it seems to be fine with no leaks. I will be doing a 3 month R. V. trip this summer to Alaska and do not want any surprises. Thanks, TomB
