My cousin took in his duramax into the dealer yesterday for a tune up. The dealer said the fuel system had sand in it, because the fuel from Iraq comes with a little bit in it. I think they're giving him a BS story. Anyone heard of this happening?

ARE YOU KIDDIN ME??? #@$%! I don't know what else to say, really. That may be the most asinine thing I have EVER heard, EVER! If for absolutely nothing else, correct my percentages, but I think that only like 10% or so of all the petro fuels in this country are actually pulled up from the mid east. (Canada and Venezuela). Walk away from that dealer, pretend it never happened.

I'm with DZink24, they are feeding your cousin copious amounts of bovine feases matter. Oil imported into the country is crude and goes through a refinery before going to the pump.

Grrrrrr-DEALERS

Just when I was starting to trust one car dealer, (daughters Nissan) I agree with all the above remarks. Is it within forum policy to put that dealers website address here? Or, it that just a Better Business Bureau issue? Can't believe the rip-off jerks!

Patrick :D

the dealer's website is CrownDublin.com

My brother has '03 Chevy 1500 4x4. They told him his 35" tires cause his transmission to blow with 6,500 miles after he got his lift.

I'm not surprised... that it failed, not about the dealer.

I have found sand in my FASS screen before (an entire teaspoon's worth)... this is also the reason I feel most LPs don't last very long...

I agree that the dealer's explaination is complete BS, but all it takes is the station's flunky to leave a cap off during a rainstorm to cause major problems... seen that first hand. Sand in the system upstream of the filter is completely possible, but downstream... well, there is definately an issue somewhere if that happens...

And not all stations have filters either...
