The Marlin is 45-70 and the CVA is .50 cal. You'll like the Marlin they are handy & quick handling, what calibers are your stocking stuffers?
The Marlin is 45-70 and the CVA is .50 cal.
My main reason for going with the Marlin was the stock. I’ve got two other guns with similar stocks, now three. Other reasons were side loading, full length picatinny rail w/open sites, 5+1 capacity and the large loop on the lever. I know some newer Henry’s side load, but I was not real happy with the quality of the Henry’s. I handled many different Henry’s at different stores and they all didn’t seem as well built as the Marlins. Parts on the Henry’s wiggled and were loose and that was a big disappointment. I would have liked a Henry as they are built two hours away from me, but the Marlin is a better fit.A 45-70 will be my next rifle. I’m just not sure of the platform. A lever gun ( Marlin or Henry) would be the most practical but lately I’ve been eyeing a Ruger number 1 or a High Wall replica. Decisions, decisions.
