I used a tripod type roof mount for a TV antenna from Radio Shack for my dish for many years all over the US. I put a piece of PVC conduit in the center for the dish to clamp on.

It sets the dish receiver up high enough the dogs can't "mark" it. I carry 3 big nails to drive into the ground to hold it steady in high winds and use a few small thin wood blocks for leveling. If I'm on asphalt or concrete, I hang a couple of plastic jugs on it that I filled with water. It has continued standing in some 60 MPH wind gusts.

When it's time to go, I slip the dish up from the PVC pipe, pull the nails, fold the tripod legs back up, and empty the water jugs if I used them. It fits in the compartment.

I like to walk around the campground in the evening, while the campers are in watching TV, and stand in front of their dishes for a few minutes. When I figure they are about to get up and check out the dish, I take off.

Once I did that to a guy who was camping next to me, except I'd go back to my campfire and watch as he came out and adjusted his dish a little. We went back and forth with it for a while until Mrs Doc made me quit :)

Lance factory installed one of these on our '03 Lance and it's the easiest ever to set up. With the digital elevation readout, it takes less than 2 minutes to have the TV up and running off the satellite.

The only problem is if you park under a dense tree cover, then I have to use a portable unit. It's too big of a hassle so don't mess with the TV. The laptop or a good book are better alternatives...
