Geno's rotochok?

I am the proud owner of a 30' Forrest River/Americana 5ver. Mostly I love the rig, but something has popped up that has me scratching my head. I ordered the rig with an outside satalite hook up, and two inside connections. One in the tv cabnet in the living room, and one in the bedroom. When I installed the bedroom TV and hooked it up to the outlet, I immeadiately got a "short in the system" message on the living room tv. This occurred everytime wether the power was on the bedroom tv or not. When I called the dealer he told me that he investigated, and a satalite signal cannot be split, and I would have to either buy another satalite box for the bedroom, or a "mirror device". Is this right??? What is the experience from the rest of you RVers out there with a satalite hookup in the bedroom?? Am I being hosed, or is this the real deal? Any help, advice, or expertise is greatly appreciated. Sarge

This is true but really not a big deal. Easy to fix. Give me a call and I will explain how to fix it. 909-318-3082. Just too much typing.

PS I own a sat tv store in southern cal.

The TV signal can be split after the signal is pasted to the TV from the sat rec splitter then will work to second set . You could run a line out next to the line in from the dish just split after the sig out on the receiver then run as I did a line out next to line in under a weather proof socket with cover then under the steps to a through the out side of the bed room and direct to the TV and a signal converter box so I can use the TV out side antenna and the booster for the Vhf and UHF . works fine . You can use a straight line to the TV but that would give you only the sat signal. I use a through the wall male and straight short line to inside and a male in a wall plate then a short cable to a signal box that gives me a way to add signals from other lines tape, regular tv sat or other . The TV boost must be off or by passed when using the same outlet . I know some would not like wires sticking out of the side of the trailer so this may not be to your liking . lol Ron in Metro ? Louisville KY    :D P. S that dealer would say that you could pull that trailer with a Half truck too. consider your self hosed.

You cannot "split" a sat dish (LNB) feed. The reason is due to the dish needing to be polarized in one of two ways depending on which transponder (channel) you want to get the sat feed from. You can use a multi switch if you have a dual LNB equiped dish. Not too hard to do, hopefully SEmerson has got you up and running :)

Thanks everyone, I think Emmerson will be able to help me work this out. The one thing I didn't mention in the first post, is that both locations in the rig have two seperate hook ups, one for satellite, and one for cable/TV. The TV outlet has the power booster on the plate. I am getting a schematic from the dealer that will show how the wireing was run at the factory. Then hopefully I can unscrew this problem:rolleyes: Thanks again.

The Fix...

The Fix... ... ...

Well, this is what happened. I took a little bit from everone's input, and came up with this solution. I went to the local electronics store and bought a splitter. It said on the out side of the package that it would split a satilite signal. I hooked the sat box to the wall connection in the living area. I put the splitter on the "out to Tv" line from the sat box. On one side of the splitter I hooked the TV in the living area, on the other side of the splitter I ran a cable to the "cable" connection in the tv area. (I had two connections in the tv area, one labeled Satilite, and one labeled cable. ) The bedroom tv area had the same two connections. I hooked the bedroom tv to the "cable" hook up instead of the satilite hook up. This made the use of the cable run without shorting out the sat signal. I was able to still use one dish and one receiver box, and now have satilite in the bedroom and the living area. Thanks everyone for all your technical help!! Sarge
