Brief in July/Aug issue of TRUCK TREND about satellite radios for vehicles. Have seen several articles about this system in past few months. Anybody out there heard or seen anything about it.

I want it!!!!

I didn't get a chance to check it out like I wanted (Wife was ready to go after meeting Lucky Vanous) , but at the Mid-American Trucking Exposition in Louisville in March, Delco had a pretty large booth dedicated to SDARS. Satellite Delivered something or other Radio Service

Several Large Truck mfrs. are supposed to start offering the radio as an option sometime this year. I have heard it is a subscription service, along the lines of DTV & DISHNET w/o the video portion. It is also supposed to be commercial free from what a DJ friend of mine on the left coast told me on TiVo message board.

I just purchased the Pioneer XM radio that runs through your FM radio. My question for all of you that have satellite radios is where did you have them mount your roof antenna at? Front... back... center... off-center? I picked up a Terk antenna which looks way less bulky then the Pioneer antenna. I'm headed back to get it installed in a couple of hours so throw in your two cents quick.

My friend has the Terk antenna in the middle of his roof so you dont see it when you are standing next to the truck. It looks a little less obtrusive that way.

XM antenna

Talk about bringing something back from the grave - - - I've purchased Pioneer XM radios for both our trucks, one in October 01 and one in March '02 and am very happy with them. Terk antenna failed on '99 and replaced it with a Pioneer. Terk on the '01 has been fine. It is mounted toward rear of roof and wires go behind 3rd stop light, and down behind rear seat where conversion box is located. Easy install, no holes to drill. The Pioneer antenna was drilled to install.

Hope this helps.
