Kevin, I've got the XM, Had it in my 00, got it before Sirius was on the air. I have no idea how Sirius is, but I sure like the XM. I got the Sony DRN-XM01C, because it is small, and can be moved easily from trk. to car, and in the house. If you get one of these, get the DRN-XM01C2, it has a clear read out, mine is the blue and is hard for me to see, especially in daylight. Look on ebay, thats where I got mine, but the 01C2's are hard to find, cause they haven't been out long. Hope this helps. You will enjoy it, especially if you do much cross country driving. The 24 hr. weather is really nice.

Larry

BTW, Sony has a $75. 00 rebate now til 12-31-02.

Not that I know of. They do make "XM ready Radios", you plug the XM receiver in to the radio and all your program info shows on the face of the radio. You don't need the cassette adapter or the rf modulator for these. It takes a seperate antenna for the sat. receiver. My hearing is so bad, the Dodge radio sounds fine to me.

Thanks so far for the info, I am looking for some more info on the Sirius, they have a deal going at ABC right now for $44. 00 for the controller. Also I am looking for receiver info, I am not going to replace my factory radio though.

Just remember one thing: You get what you pay for... Try to short change on something to cut corners, it will come back and bite you in the but twice as hard!

I personally am getting ready to buy an XM, and know someone who can get it to me at cost+10%... I will let y'all know how the 'truck' antenna works, as I am not going to mount any antennas on the roof... its a dead giveaway for theives. .

Just a thought to ponder.

Wow, I never thought of that... Good question. . I bet it would, because they sell marine antennas and marine radios, so I am assuming it does... I know it works out in WAY West Texas, where the closest wal mart is like 200 miles away!

I e-mailed XM about the Canada thing it it was an honest "No". And they have no future plans. I can not answer that anything Alaska as I did not ask? Cheers

My understanding was that now that they have the Ford deal Sirius has gotten on their feet. Gonna have to investigate...

I have an Alpine XM system. I have had it for a little under a year now. Got it back in Jan. of '02. Smartest investment i ever made. I know there not suppose to work in Canada, but i have been about 100 miles or better into canada, so i know it will work at least to winnipeg. I have the glass mount Terk antenna, i don't know if that makes a difference from the Shark fin or not.

I haven't heard a hole lot of good things about Sirus. I do know there monthly fee is more. I don't think you can get the playboy channel with Sirus either. XM is always doing surveys of it's members to find out what the most listened to stations are. They take the information and change channels and programming to better please the customer. Not once have i been disappointed. The sound is as good or if not better that CD's. It's a no brainer get the XM. It's the leader in the industry. I could ramble no forever but this is just my opinion and year of experience. :) :D :D

XM receiver and stock stereo

Tell me, you can run the XM system through the stock Infinity stereo, right? What about if you already have a 12-disc RF (radio frequency) changer as an auxilliary item? I've just started looking at these and I haven't gotten very far. Thanks.

I have found that they specifically state that the system does not work in Alaska or Hawaii.

Yes you can run XM through the stock radio.

You need the type of receiver that has a "FM Modulator". It will plug into the antenna line into the stock radio.

Check out some of the larger sterio places in your area, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.

Another place is www.crutchfield.com. They have some receivers as well.

There is a new one that lest you take it from your truck into your house or another vehicle so you have XM where ever you are.

I have had mine for about 6 months and love it.

Good Luck

Clinton do you have a cassette player? If so you can for sure.

RF Modulator

Most devices allow you to tune them to different FM frequencies. If both of these allow this, or they are both set to different FM frequencies, you should have no problem.

I have Siruius and am really happy with it so far.

The 3rd Gen truck is beginning to offer Sirius as a factory option controlled through the factory unit; Chrysler has a deal with them (in addition to Ford).

I picked up mine before the 3rd gen accessory catalogs were available so have a seperate contol unit for the radio; but like I said; really happy with it.

Just got back from a Thanksgiving trip; it was nice listening to ESPN gameday all afternoon Sunday.
