I JUST RAN INTO A BUDDIE THAT IS RUNNING USED AUTOMATIC transmission FLUID INSTED OF DIESEL FUEL. HE SAD IT SMOKES A LITTLE MORE BUT RUNS BETTER OVERALL. HAS ANYONE ELSE DONE THIS??????:confused::confused:

ATF has friction modifiers in it to keep the clutches from slipping in the transmission. Those modifiers are hard on the vp44 if you're running it in your fuel. Used oil wouldn't be too bad, I know a few guys who use new 2 stroke oil in every fill-up, but that's not cheap either.

Boy, this one just WON'T die. People seem to think ATF burns cleaner because the oil in an automatic transmission looks much cleaner than emgine oil.

Guys, the autotrans fluid is cleaner because THERE IS NO COMBUSTION in the transmission!

exactly, don't run ATF as fuel!

you should see the oil in our natural gas compressors after 25,000hrs... looks a LOT better than the engine oil after 10,000hrs!

Wow... has anyone actually put a flame to transmission fluid/used oil to see how it burns and what it leaves behind? I would think this is going out the exhaust and hitting the turbine wheel on the way out the pipe...

Adding oil to the fuel will increase the density and, therefore, increase combustion pressure(hydraulics) so your economy will go up. However, the oil isn't burnt completely so the residue exits... or stays behind and collects on the head and valves.

I guess it depends on how much oil you add and how much it completely burns.
