Oo. I just installed my own version of the K&N induction system.

The K&N System 15-1525 for a '99 Ram is $233, I paid $46 for the filter (pn RC4780) used some sheet metal I had laying around the garage and a piece of 4" PVC drain pipe (Flared end) Saved $180.

The Turbo spins up faster and I'm getting a little more than 21psi (19 pre filter install) and my MPG whent up about 1. 2, according to the computer.

That sounds good to me but I've been told to trash the K&N filter. The turbo sucks all the oil off the filter and gets the turbo pretty nasty. My turbo was clean until I added a K&N and now the fins are covered in oil - and that's with a small amount of oil on the filter. I was told not to run the K&N without oil so I'm switching to a BHAF so I don't get any more oil inside the power maker. Anybody want to buy a K&N?

When I change out, I noticed that my fins were dirty and the stock filer was filty, but the guage hadn't moved. I went with K&N becasue it had a flange on the filter that would fit over the induction pipe.

Does anybody know of another conical filter that has a 4" diameter flange?

348000kms on my k/n never had oil on turbo. i wash mine as per instructions ,allow to air dry. i use the spray type oil , lay the filter on white paper towel, over night. i install a standard paper filter till the k/n is ready. many aircraft i maintain use Bracket foam air filters that are pre oiled . these are not reusable. however there is oil on the turbo blades, never has caused any problem.

I've been running a K&N for a few months now with now problems, been checking the turbo every two weeks for signs of dirt or oil and have found none to date. I will let you know if I find anything.
