Saw an 06 2500 today

But I must say, we have gone a bit in the cat eye direction with the lights, eh? I simply cannot stand that on the Chevies. I hope that is as far as they go on the Dodge. Other than that, I like it just fine. Unmistakeable Dodge look.

I don't like the headlights either. Between the grille and the headlights, it looks like they couldn't decide whether to make it look like A DODGE or a Ford SD or Chevy.



They should've left the Cummins badge where it was on the previous models, or put it on the door.



The interior looks a little better. Less mini-vanish. (Is that a word? :-laf )

Do I really need to see the top of the headlight unit, peeled back like a banana? A crack in that clear plastic from a rock on the topside will cause all kinds of water issues. And, people who want fender flares are in for a treat when they find out they overlap the side of the headlight unit.



The engine logo should be on the door alongside the model, not misaligned on the fender (take a good look at 3rd gens to date... all the badging is at the same level, even the tailgate).



The horizontal-bar grille lets in even more debris than the honeycomb against the condenser.



Step in the wrong direction from an aesthetic point of view... Next full redesign is supposed to be 2009/2010... hopefully it will be something worth trading the 05 for by then.

Yeah, the CTD badge placement looks like an afterthought almost. Oops, won't go in the normal spot due to this honkin big light, where the heck are we going to put it?



I agree, it should be on the door. Under and lined up with the front edge of the model badge.



On the other hand, once you remove the model badge, it won't look unaligned anymore.

It sounds like I made a good choice ording an 06 as a buy back replacement for my 05.

I never did like the minivan like center dash.

Things I like...



The leather interior.

The different front bumper. There is a square look to it, kinda like the nissan titan bumper. ( there are two different front ends that I saw on the 06's. Don't know if they are laramie or slt type. )

The 3500 DRW has 265/80/R17 That makes quite a difference from 265/70/17 that come normally.

The inside stero in the laramie edition. Very unique and simple design.



Things I don't like...



The HUGE headlights! Are we going to Baja or something???

The cloth interior... Did they get carnhart to do the interior? It is rough and uncomfortable. For a work truck it would be excellent material, but not to stick your family in.

All the factory badging. You could spent 5 minutes reading all the badging they put on the damn truck. Especially the big horn edition.

Speaking of badging, they have the ram symbol built into the front grill. It just doesn't fit.

The price! They don't give the employee discount on the 2006. And correct me if i'm wrong, but... did they get rid of the 7 year/100,000 mi warranty on this model year???

I gotta say, I really like the new look. I didn't know about the pics of the 2500 QC at the Chicago Auto Show. I was in agreement with the opinion about to much like the Dakota. But that dually looks damn good.

3500 DRWs will be Regular and Quad for now... a MegaCab shortbed dually is hinted for 2006. 5.

Under the hood, changes are afoot. There's a new injector harness setup, wth two huge plugs, and the intake plenum (the one that gets replaced by the ATS or Banks Hi Ram) is closer to the front of the engine. It sits right behind the injector for the forward cylinder. The fuel rail looks a little different, as well.

Anyone check under the hood of an '06 Cummins to see if it has a power increase to compete with the '06 Duramax? From all the literature I've read it appears to remain at 325/610 but I'm wishfully hoping for an unannounced increase.

Would like to hear more about this. Is this the valve cover bomb the 3G folks have been jonsing for, i. e. a complete aluminum valve cover -- that will fit all the 3Gs.

The only thing I can say concerning the 06 is " I am so fudging glad I bought an '05 I can hardly stand myself".



With that said, that is my opinion only and I respect those that do like the '06... After all, the most important part is still there... The Big "C" on the fender...

I have an 06 Sport on order, and the sport package includes low back bucket seats (CAC), I wonder if it will have the console, wonder what the hell it looks like also?

It shouldn't have the would grain either... I hope

I like the new look. One problem I have is, the guy who decided where the engine emblem goes, ought to be lynched. What on Earth was he thinking? It should have gone on the door, either in front of, or behind the "Ram 2500/3500". JMHO though .
