Do you believe this

Well, finally got to see one of the NEW body style rams up close in real-life.

DC had two of them on display at the big Nations Cup Equestrian Event in town.

Got to look inside, and play with things a bit on the interior.

First of all, from the front, they really do resemble a Ferd. Yuk #1.

The headlights are very ugly... strange looking too. Yuk #2.

Interior looks Waaaaayyyy worse than the '98-'01 trucks. It all flat now.

Reminiscent of the way Volkswagen dash/interiors are. Very flat... .

Before I could get the same words out of my mouth, my wife beat me to it... "LOOKS CHEAP" she said. Yuk #3.

All in all, I am totally glad I have my '99. I'd take my '99 in a heartbeat over this new styling. It isn't just changed... it looks cheap.

Keeping in mind that this is only the 1500 series, and maybe the 2500 and 3500's will be a little nicer... but not likely. They had both the sport and regular versions on display.

The speedos are white (cheap looking) just like the new intrepids.

The only thing that was cool was the "optional" big wheels.

Lemme tell ya... these ARE big. Huge rims and low profile tires. Kinda neat.

That was the extent of what was appealing to me anyway.

Just my humble impressions of course.

I saw one too.

I saw one yesterday, and was not impressed at all. Thankful be I got mine when I did. It had NO more back seat space then my quad-cab.

I remember back in '94 when the 2nd Gen Ram came out alot of people I talked to thought it was ugly. Then it grew on them. Same with this truck. Although I liked the looks of this truck from the get-go.

I got to look at one at the dealership thursdaynight and I think that there is alot of leg room in the rear. I didn't get a chance to sit in it though. I like the looks of the exterior. I thought the interior wasn't as nice as my '99. It kinda looked like if you hit a bump it would squeak or rattle if you can understand what I'm talking about.

I really liked the truck but that grill, WHAT WERE THEY THINKIN'! However there is only 2 things that would keep me from gettin' one .

1 That grill

2 (most important) Don't have 40 grand

I been waitin' fer this here topic to become a "General Diesel" topic for some time, but it ain't gonna do it nohow...

So, ima gonna move it to "other".

Well, I gotta look like I'm doing my job, at least :)

Thanks all

Mark

Sure hope Dodge gets it right with the 2003 2500/3500s. Have been looking long and hard at crew cabs for pulling our 5th wheel and the competition, especially GMC on their 2500HD, has some appealing hardware. After test drives in the 2001 3/4 and 1 ton crew cab trucks (Ford, Chevy, and GMC), our '91 250 with some 240K miles doesn't feel the same anymore. Would buy a '91 design in a crew cab configuration with a 12 valve Cummins in a heartbeat. As for $40K for a Dodge 1500 crew cab, if they're trying to get that, they're dreaming.

For Power Wagon, I threw in the 12 valve bit just to bring this back to something diesel related, however weakly. But my 12 valve configuration has gotta be simplier and more reliable that the current 24 valve configurations with their ever increasing electronics. Sure like my old '91. And I remember my old Ford Model A, could and did rewire that without a wiring diagram.

Castor is right on. When I bought the 94, I still have, people said it was the uglest thing they had ever say. Then I heard it "kind of grows on you". Well, now these same people have one, or two in their yard.

The head lights I really don't care for but if I can see down the road better I like um'. I want to see that common rail then maybe my 96 will be retired.

:D

If this thing grows on me....

Then I heard it "kind of grows on you". Well, now these same people have one, or two in their yard.

Lemme tell ya, if this thing grows on me, I'm going to the doctor to have it surgically removed. When I saw the 94's a LOVED 'EM, and still do.

I'll have to agree with Shawn. When I saw the '94 I loved it! Couldn't wait to get one! After a long wait, I finally got the one with all the options that were rumored to be coming out. Now that I have it, I'm thinking just in the nick of time! The '02 1500 is ugly!

new dodge 2002

Saw it today at Jack O'Diamonds in Longview, Tx. It sucked! I'll keep my 01 if the 3/4 and 1's look like it.
