On the way back from New Mexico on HWY 84 between Las Vegas and Interstate 40 it is very flat and straight and very little traffic. With my GPS on for confirmation I opened it up and hit

128 mph and I was still at less than red line before I had to back off.

The wife was freaking! This is with 295 tires and 3. 55 gears and mucho HP.

I changed the fuel filter today. Boy it was a piece of cake. I used a 3/4 ratchet, and a 6 in extension. Was able to do it from the side of truck. We will see if that has had anything to do with it. I have 3:55 gears and was turning about 2700 rpms at 99-100 mph. I had about a 2k load in bed as well.

My '99 did run at least 110, i forget how high I had it.

Attn Patriot::

Patriot, I have not been there yet. I have been putting bids in for a bunch of runs. I haul expedited for a mold and tool company. They have me deliver to wyandotte at least once a week. Maybe sometime soon, I'll get a run to your plant. What does your plant do? The one in Michigan is HUGE. I go to Elastocell Division.

I was racing a friend that I work with yesterday on the way home from work he has a duradud. Any way he stayed right there with me till I Hit about 110 Then he started to disappear by 118 he gave up. ;)

I have a governed 2001, HO 6-speed 2wd 3. 54 gears and 265 tires. I can feel it starting to kick in and at 115-116 you can feel it cut back the fuel dramatically. Has plenty of power and shoots to 110 easily but then the fun gets reigned in soon after that. This is a little over 3200rpm. My dyno graphs show it pulling hard to 3300+ so it's not RPM related.

My truck was built Feb 2000 in Mexico. Evan Beck's identical truck also built in Mexico about a month later does not have the speed limiter.

Last week coming back from Seattle and driving the back roads near Hanford (ie, The Desert) late at night I was cruising at 80 and some loser kept riding my tail. If I slowed he wouldn't pass. When I came to the "7-mile straight stretch" and no cars were coming as far as the eye could see, I put the hammer down. Kept it at 115 for close to 5 miles! The dude was WAAAAAAYYYYY back there when I backed off! It was fun, I was really enjoying the centerline going by in a blur and the picket fence--er, telephone poles were really flying by :D

Despite all that I turned in 21. 2mpg on that tank :cool:

2001 5-speed 3. 54 stock tires. 113mph... thats it. plenty fast enough to land my ass in jail. its not the top speed but how fast you can get there right?

I have been to 115-120 on several occasions and have stock tires... I don't think I need to disable anything as that is just freaking fast enough. :D :D

Must have the limiter as....

me Mexico trk was built 9-7-99 and with the 3. 55's 5spd get to 118 or so before it wont go higher.

Ques: what is the max that your CC works at - mine is 85 - over that need to keep the foot on the loud pedal. Can set it a 95 or ?? and it creeps back to 85 and holds there.

Maybe we need another post for the CC top speed setting.....
