Just came back from a dealer up here in Mass... . pricing out a new HO 6spd. . and they told me I can't get one. The sales guy said the HO Cummins is not available in Mass, Maine & Cali... anyone else here of this? Pretty disappointing if its true.

Yes Bilgal, there is no Santa Clause. I've been searching on this subject.

Just make sure you find out what the deal is on importing a vehicle. No point in spending >$40k on a truck you can't register.

Plan B is a duramax or powerstroke. For some reason there is no restriction at all in Maine. Looks like if I can't get the HO my love affair with Cummins is over.

I am going to call DMV next week and see if I can get a straight answer on importation.

Yup I live in California I had to settle for the 235Hp and 460Ft pounds thats OK I will wait a couple of years and ad a box, I could have gotten the H. O. up in Nevada but would have to have put like 1500 miles on it and brought it into the state as a used vehicle that would have been a big hassle for me, Man I am telling you I should have never moved from Michigan. :

My Califorinia model is great. Pulls ove 20,000 lbs no prob. 65 down the HWY. I will get a box asap. Kinda needs it on a long hill. Go with the 235/460 hp model with the 5 speed.

Great advice!

I had thought about waiting for the 48RE on the 235 HP Maine edition and adding a box. I have no doubt your 235 HP Dodge is a fine truck!

I'm still going to look into getting an HO in NH. My local dealer has started whining that I wouldn't get the best service from him if I had a warranty issue (no loaner, long appointment waits, etc. ). If I buy in NH and bring it to Maine they HAVE to work on it, don't they?

I agree with you completely, Prairie Dog.

I've spent betweem $3 and 4 thousand at my dealership in the past two years on both my Dodges, and will spend more in the future I'm sure. If they are not still smiling ear to ear if I drive in an HO they couldn't get for me, I'll take it somewhere else. I will go waaay out of my way to avoid an unfriendly shop.

The Shop Mgr here has always said they give the preferred appointments and loaner availability to people who buy cars/trucks from them. I can understand that, and would buy an HO from them if I could.

BTW, I called a dealership in Portsmouth NH this afternoon and they have been told the Maine restriction will probably be lifted next year. I have carefully looked over the Duramax and have considered the 6. 0 L Ford, but have decided to order a new Dodge next spring, and will do whatever needs to be done to bring an HO to Maine.

I'm still going to write to my Congress-woman about this so-called emissions business. I am going to make the point that limiting the diesel pickup market in Maine will only drive (no pun intended) consumers to buy gassers, which generate far more pollution per pound of vehicle.

A good day to all!
