Tractor Question

A salesman stopped in to the bus garage to sell me Baldwin filters. Nothing strange about that. Lots of folks use them. He used to be the shop forman of the same company. I don't know what it is. Some truck supply/service dealership.

Short story long, he told me the engine block heater will not heat the engine, will only keep it warm once the engine is shut-off.

Must be my imagination then... ..... ?

I am somewhat in agreement with the guy. At least the block heater in my truck doesn't seem to be sufficient to get the engine particularly warm. About the only time I've ever had particularly good results with it, is when I've managed to plug it in right after shutting it down. It seems to maintain heat better than it produces heat. I guess your mileage may vary a bit...

I have my block heater on a timer... goes on about 3:30 am. . at 5:30 it is warm enough to not call for the grids... unless temps are in the single digits.

I'd say it works pretty well.
