Just wondering about running the FE on a daily driver. Im debating between the OFE and the FE. This is a daily driver that i like to have fun with for the most part. however i do tow on occasion. I know the OFE would be plenty for now, but i want room to grow but i also want good street manners. What does everyone think? how about some personal experiences with the FE?

I've been driving with an FE for a year now. I don't have any trouble with in even on snow and ice. Heck, I plow with it and it's great!

I have the ofe. It drives just fine, no problems snow or rain. I beat the snot out of that clutch. Rolling up on 40,000 on it and hasn't slipped once!

I have the OFE and it works great (I'm just a little over powered for it now). It has always been smooth. My brother has an FE and it's just a little more grabby than my OFE, but not much. IMO

I've been running an OFE for over 100000 miles now, towing 14000 about 3/4 of the time. I got it based on talking to several of Peters installers who felt the FE would be too agressive for heavy towing. It almost as smooth as stock, no more pedal pressure.

i'm planning on a smarty, some medium sized injectors, M3's perhaps, and an up graded turbo, 64/14 maybe. will the OFE hold this? JamesThomas, do you think your OFE will hold with the turbo and M4's?

I would go with the FE to be safe, I daily drive at 595 + daily and have no problems, its getting kinda weak though! These clutches are overrated i hear by about 50 HP!
I've pushed a OFE well over 450 and had no problems , i wouldnt personally try it again! The Less you have to pull your transmission the better!

I'm pushing around 500hp on my OFE. It does slip every now and then though. I really need an FE. I would go with an FE though, just to be safe.

telliott, like you read, I have the ofe. With what I have now it does not slip and I am very hard on my clutch. I am gonna swap my injectors to m4's and my turbo to a sps 62/24 as soon as the weather permits. You can see what I put down on the dyno in my sig, my problem is that I am not burning all of the fuel that I have.

After my parts swap I am told I will be aroud the 500-525hp mark give or take. I think that an ofe would hold that power if I babied it, but I like to lay into it every now and then, smoke the tires, black out an intersection, etc. Due to the way that I drive I will be upgrading to a dual disc when the funds allow. I don't beat my truck up but I do like to work it good from time to time.

In your case, as in mine, depending on what you like to do... I would probably get an FE or think about a dual disc.

I have the CON FE and tow 10,000-15,000 lbs with it all the time even in snow and ice, just let it idle out till it engages and it is fine. I like having the peace of mind knowing I won't out grow the clutch, for example bombing started with just trying to get 350 hp... well got there, now I am shooting for 550. Oh well, its never ending.

Very low speed backing up a slight incline can be a bit chattery, but how often do you really do that? I love my FE. It will reward you with smooth engagement and significantly-lighter-than-stock pedal pressure.

The Con FE's only fault is backing up on a turn can be a little jumpy. With a trailer when you wanna go real slow (as in slip the clutch to go slower as apposed to idle and engaged).

That is the only issue. .

On snow, second you start to engage the tires move. :) I think it's like that with the stocker as well.
