Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) SBC and brake cleaner, bad idea?

Since I am replacing my oil pan gasket this weekend, I am hoping that my new SBC OFE didn't get wet with any oil, but if it did would any of you guys recommend brake cleaning it off at all?

I asked Peter @ SBC about it last week and he told me he didn't know how the organic material on the pressure plate side of the disc would react to it. But thing is, I don't really have time to send the disc out for a new one, which he recommended if the clutch was contaminated. So, if there is a little bit of oil or anything on the disc, is it a bad idea to use brake clean or should I just rent a car for a week and send it back to SBC, if that is the case?

Dan the Gear man up @ Quad 4x4, recommended cleaning it off with brake clean, but after I talked to Peter, I was kind of hesitant to do it if need be this weekend. So now I am asking you guys, what do ya think?

Joe,

Just something to think about, stock clutch, non-metalic brake shoes and a few other things are made from this "organic" material. I have used brake clean on of course brakes of all types and also clutches. Last clutch I used it on was a dual disc outa a cabover Pete after one of the "shop hands" dropped it in a pile of oil soaked "kittty litter". I would call Peter again and have him call his suppplier for the answer. That would make you certain that the material wont be affected.

BTW: The Pete would still be on the raod if the driver wouldnt have laid here over. The engine is now in a sawmill!

Well, I called SBC this morning and I talked to Rusty, I think that was his name, and he said as long as the pressure plate side of the disc is not saturated in oil anywhere than just go ahead and clean it off before re-installation with brake clean and it will be fine. So I guess I got my answer.
