SBC Broke! and FIXED!!!!!!

Last Wed. My wife was driving and when she shifted into 4th the truck lost its power to the wheels. She called me and after a short evaluation I determind it was either the transmission input shaft or the clutch. I had put a SBC clutch in about 8 months ago after all the positive input from fellow TDR members. After we ( the local dealer) pulled the transmission and transfer case we discoverd the clutch disc had broke. You could not tell it was broken by visual inspection but when you put it on the input shaft of the trans you could grip the outer portion of the disc and turn it with your hands! Wow never seen anything like that before without a disc showing some signs of being broke.

I purchased the clutch through B-D and they have told me it will be replaced under warranty when they get a chance to see it. I certainly hope they come through as I will be out major bucks for the replacement. Has anyone else had this kind of trouble with an SBC and what has been your experience with them standing behind there products? Thanks for the help in advance, Dave:rolleyes:

Deezul 1, I have heard nothing but good about SBC. Thats why I bought one, but I just spent another $620 today on the replacement clutch! I was under the impression they would send me one at no cost! Like I said I hope they stnd by the product. Dave

Peter will no doubt send you another one BEFORE he looks at it, to get you rolling again.

That is just the way he does business.

I wouldn't wait on BD.

Dude no worries Peter will take care of you. Get a hold of him and you'll be back on the road in no time.

:) I am glad to report that my clutch problems are fixed!! Not only did Peter at SBC replace my broke clutch he has replaced it with a new heavy duty model that is designed for towing. The new clutch comes with a new flywheel so it is considerably more pricy. I am very impressed with Peter nad other than the inconvienence of having my truck down his response and solution to the problem are second to none. Thanks for the tips, I am GLAD I called him Direct, Dave:)

I pray at night that Peter would get in the auto transmission business too, LOL. What a guy, way to go Peter!!!

I too had a SBC clutch fail due to a defective core disk (weak dampening springs on my trade-in core) and SBC overnighted me a new clutch, talk about service and standing behind your product. I would buy from them again in a minute. :)

I am glad you are happy with the way things turned out. I am also sorry for the inconvenience that you had. I would also like to thank you for the way you approached me with your problem, that is the way you get things done. I have had people call me and want to do this... :-{} . These are the people that will not get far with me!! We are trying to do our best and to grow with the ever-changing needs that the DTD are throwing at us. If you folks are patient with me I will be loyal to you.

Peter

Well, It looks like a happy ending to this story thanks to Peter and SBC. I really appreciate the response to the thread. I can tell but the 500 or so views alot of TDR's looked at it. I will be reporting sometime in the future how this new Performance/towing clutch works. If it works like the other one I had i will be very happy! Thanks again, and a big Thanks to Peter! DAVE;)
