... !!! :D

Finally got it built the way I want it! Took 2 years... .

Now with the improved fueling (FASS this weekend) I can punch it with the PMCR in the higher numbers (SBC DD yesterday) no clutch spin... . power builds like a rocket (feels sub-second) until the pop-offs start tripping at 75lbs then it's like hitting a wall. :-laf :-laf

I didn't think the FASS would make much difference but it sure does! Previously I must have been draining it out of fuel because it wouldn't come close to those boost numbers. Thank goodness for the pop-offs or I'd be picking intercooler pieces out of the grill!!!

But what a ride!!!!!!!

Can't stop grinnin////// :D

Im stuck with my POS automatic transmission... I swear this has to be the biggest mistake of my life picking a truck with a auto. :(

Automatic has a-lot of potential; an ATS (or equivalent) is probably in your future. You have a much easier time 'off-the-line' with the auto. I prefer the manual; but the automatics that have been beefed up are tough to beat for off the line speed... can't row the gears quick enough.

So; pros and cons no matter what! Don't despair.

Depends on what you want to do. I did a little racing this year and I would LOVE to have an auto. But for towing the manual does quite well. I suppose a beefed up auto would tow pretty good too. Well, to late to change it now.

75 pounds? Wow, you're braver than I am. I guess I pushed it last weekend. I turned the TST up a bit and pushed 48 pounds with the stock turbo. Did you oring?

Fire-ringed; upgraded head gasket; 12mm studs. Don't even begin to play at that level with the stock turbo and stock block!!!! (IMO  )

Had the fireringed/head gasket/studs done before my TST ever went over level 5; and before I put the twins on. Oo.

You guys wanting twins would be suprised how "cheap" twins can be fabbed... Im getting ready to start the twins on mine, I witnessed twins being fabbed over the course of a couple weeks and it is 1/3 the cost of a set... .

Big MAK,

Congradulations on your new setup. We have a very similar setup, and I've been loving mine for the last couple of months. If you don't mind sharing your advise, I'm interested in your FASS observations, as I've had a similar experience with the truck running out of fuel. I have DD Stage 3 injectors along with the PMCR/EZ stacked, and it will come on real strong, then hesitate for a split second, then pull hard again. I'm fairly certain its running out of fuel, and I have been toying with putting a FASS on, but wasn't sure it would help. Your quote above sounds like there was noticable difference from stock to the FASS. I currently have DD's pusher pump, but because of the injectors/PMCR/EZ, I think I can use more than it can supply. Did you look at DD's pusher pump? I'm wondering if they are comprable or if the FASS is superior. Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

Hey peter, Hows the SB Con-FE holding the power?

Mark, If you lived closer Id steal your truck! Im a little jelous, but I am working on twins (or at least a good single) and a clutch right now so I guess ill have to keep working on it. On the other hand, ive only had my truck since the first of february so I got some time to put in it just like you did.

I can't offer any comparison info since the FASS is the only pump I've had other then the stock. I was surprised to see a difference; since my pressure never went to zero with the stock pump (except when it stopped working!). But the stock pump must have hit the wall a-lot sooner; previously I couldn't make over 60lbs running it wide open everything maxed. I thought it wouldn't make much difference; so when I dialed the PMCR to 9/9 and rolled into the throttle (to see if the clutch would hold); boy was I surprised! :-laf I suspect I have a multiplier on the difference since it's possible my stock clutch was slipping more then I thought. Now I'm seeing more power to the ground due to more fuel and due to a clutch that holds.

With this setup with FASS fuel pump, PMCR, PDR comps, etc, PMCR on 7/7 or above shifting through the gears -- in 4th the wastegate trips rather hard in the small turbo; just before the shift; then steady hard build in 5th (wastegate still open on small turbo); the 6th gear is like punching a jet pack until the pop-offs at 75/80 lbs. Which is good! I don't want to blow stuff up! There's no point in running the PMCR above around 6/6 since above that it's just opening and closing the wastegate and pop-offs; makes it feel like it's cutting in and out; surge; stumble; surge; stumble. There's tons of power to put down if you disable those safetys (wastegates and pop-offs) but I'm not gonna do it. This is still my daily driver and tow vehicle. Still playing a little to find the sweet spot for steady-on power w/o risking parts. Looks to be around 6/6.

About the only thing I want to improve is the second or two lag when I get on the throttle -- but I knew that was the trade-off going to the comp sized turbos. I need to figure out how to get boost to build for a hard launch. Haven't figured that out yet. Must be way to powerbrake w/o stalling it...

I love the SB. On my previous trucks I have had McCleod dual disk clutches, and they worked great, but could be a pain to get into gear. This truck makes much more hp than my previous trucks (this one should be 550+ rwhp), and the SB hasn't slipped once. Clutch pressure seems similar to stock, and shifting isn't nearly as difficult, although at times it can be a bit "notchy".

Big Mak, glad to see you finally got the twins in and going. Sounds like you got a good set-up there. Have you wiped the big :D from your face yet? Hope all is well. Don
