scanner fits overhead console

The new Bearcat BCT-7 scanner is smaller than the original, so it fits nicely in the overhead console. Mine came without the compass so I filled it with the scanner.
It was $180 from AES.

You may wan't too rethink the idea of having a scanner in your vehicle. I believe there are some federal laws out there that prohibit scanners in vehicles. The fines alone scared me enough to pull mine out. At least check in to the laws just to be on the safe side.

There are many states where it's illegal - unless you are a ham radio operator. The test is very easy to pass, you can get a study guide and pass the test with just a few hours study.

Do they really ticket for this?

Sheeeeit, they really ought to concentrate on the folks busting red lights, stop signs and drunk driving for good measure.

Oregon has no laws regarding scanners (scanning receivers). There is a Federal law prohibiting reception of cell-phone traffic of course.
My truck also contains a VHF transmitter-receiver that enables me to converse with other hams, and take part in SAR missions, plus the occasional fire dept call-out. We had a total phone system failure including 911, a few months ago, so my radio was very useful.
