OK I have an HP Scanner - Scanjet 4570 and I am trying to convert slides to files on my PC (which is set up for doing this task) BUT WHAT A JOB! Does anybody have any experience in accomplishing this???? I have over 10,000 slides that will take at least till the second coming at the rate I'm going... ... ...

I don't have any great ideas but my HP scanner software will allow me to scan multiple pictures at the same time and then "cut" them out and save them as separate files.

hammersley,

From what I am told by my professional friends the Nikon CoolScan is the only way to go. There are 3 different models from consumer to PRO. You can look at them here http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1&grp=98.

They sell on E-bay for about $550. current eBay auctions

If you have 10,000 slides it might be worth investing in, using it to complete your job, and then reselling on e-bay. I have been looking at them for about 3 years and they seem to hold there value - even used.
