My ride is a 2014 Big Horn 2500. Just had a dealer perform 30k miles scheduled maintenance a/per owners manual. As I was going through the associated paper work from
the dealer (after I got home) I noticed an item for 36k maintenance; "Perform diesel fuel injection system fluid exchange service." There was additional information explaining
what & why the truck needed the service, basically to clean the injectors. I looked at the owners manual and found no such item regarding "scheduled maintenance". Is the
dealer just trying to get into my wallet or am I missing something?

One additional question about scheduled maintenance, valve adjust & 150k or 120 months!!!! My other ride, '97, 2500, 5.9 calls for it @ 50k intervals. Can some one
enlighten me on this subject? Thanks, in advance.

Jim

that's a load of crap. i'd ask why it's not in the manual. and then just fallow the manual. if it's in there do it, else, i don't worry about it.
i did valves at 150, didn't need adjusting. so i wouldnt' worry about it.

Owners manual, diesel supplement, scheduled maintenance, 30 K service is "change fluid". 60 K "change fluid and filter". Page 154 in the 2013 diesel supplement for 30K, and page 158 for 60 K.

I'm at (almost) 4 years (actually only 31,000 miles) so doing some maintenance for the first time.

I am changing the fluid in the old g56 (first time) Did some hard runs up slopes in the smokies 2 years in a row pulling light travel trailer (22 foot approx 4500 lbs loaded), in 5th and 6th gear. Only my girlfriend who doesn't understand diesels told me to take it easy. (Told her I was breaking it in).

ATF Fluid looked real good..... almost looked new. Maybe it is hard to see the metal because if the red color?

I am installing Fast Coolers. So I took off the PTO covers.

I would like to know why they are called PTO covers. I realize the g56 2500 and 3500 do not have the Power Take Off option. Are these covers covering something that is installed on G56 Cab & Chassis that have the PTO option?

Hope to finish the project tomorrow. Had to make 2 trips to the auto store. Have the shift tower off and will be adding new lube through the shift tower opening. An extra quart as recommended on this site.
