Competition TS Performance All Diesel Challenge

Anyone have an update on this project?

Taken from: http://www.scheiddieselmotorsports.com/mediar.html

"In August of 2003, Dan approached Eric McBride, an accomplished diesel drag racer and motorsport official, on his interest in drag racing. Dan's goal is to find a racing platform suitable for the power his engines are making, get the word out about his incredible pulling and racing engines and be extremely competitive. Eric agreed to drive and soon started researching different types of race trucks and dragsters.

The goal of SDM is to be the first diesel to run 200 MPH in the 1/4 mile and to be the quickest at all times. To accomplish this, Eric concentrated his efforts on a rear engine dragster. His research led him to Mike Spitzer of Spitzer Enterprises. Mike has been building the fastest and most sought after drag cars for over 20 years. Mike is also known for his one-off prowess, typically becoming "the fastest" in whatever project he is involved in.

February 3rd Dan contracted Mike Spitzer to build the world’s fastest diesel powered dragster. The car’s completion date is April 13th and testing is to begin mid-May, weather permitting. "

I will have pictures in the next few days. It is in the jig, being built.

It is being built to race with the DHRA, it is not owned by the DHRA, just for clarification.

I didn't intend that post to sound like the 'DHRA' owned it 100%... but since you and Scheid are the front runners of the project (along with Spitzer... ), I figured that labeling it as a 'Scheid/DHRA' project was valid.

I can't wait to see some pictures... . that'll hold me over until I see it make some passes at TiM '04.

On edit: Looks like one of them there 12-cylinder p-pumps hanging off the side there, eh? :)

Matt

That is a picture of a 466 pulling engine. At the time I needed to create a "rendering" I was unable to obtain a proper Dan Scheid Racing Engine picture!

Passes at Muncie? Read the schedule page again.

Eric - I thought that engine looked a little odd - with the pump hanging off the 'wrong side'... . but anything is possible with a little bit of finesse.

After reading the Scheid site - I thought the dragster would be making passes at TiM.

This quote lead me to believe that it would at least make some shakedown passes at TiM: "The car’s completion date is April 13th and testing is to begin mid-May, weather permitting. "

Here's what the schedule page says:

"2004

The Scheid Diesel Motorsports dragster can be seen @

Thunder in Muncie - June 5th and 6th

Diesel Extravaganza - August 27-29

SEMA Las Vegas - November 2-5 ANSA Automotive booth

On site appearances only"

I never thought it would be making full passes or competing, but the site makes it sound like we will be at least seeing it run.

Matt

I'll fire it up for you at Muncie. We plan on quite a large learning curve on engine set up for this project. It could be the end of the year before we make a solid pass? We don't want to make test passes in front of a crowd.

Anyway, here are pictures of it under construction.

Chro-mo frame, carbon fiber?!

NICE!!

Even if you have a bone stock, single turbo VE-44 engine in there... I wanna hear it run at TiM '04. :D

Matt

I thought this was all TOP SECRET? When was it made public?

Hey Eric, let me know when the first public pass is. I want to be there to see you hold up the trophy and say "Amsoil cetane boost, number one baby!":-laf
