CLASS

For Diesel Extravaganza 2002

A. T. P. A. FULL PULL PRODUCTIONS RULES for 2002



1. GENERAL RULES:



A. THIS IS A SUPER STOCK DIESEL PICK-UP CLASS. TRUCKS MAY BE HAULED TO THE PULL. Truck doesn’t need to have license plates. TRUCK MUST BE STOCK IN OUTWARD APPEARANCE FOR THAT MODEL YEAR AND MAKE OF TRUCK, LIMITED TO 1 TON AND SMALLER.



B. Diesel trucks only



C. NO STUDDED TIRES. TIRE CHAINS OR ANY TIRE NOT SPECIFICALLY INTENDED FOR STREET USE ARE NOT PERMITTED. ALL TIRES MUST CARRY A D. O. T. NUMBER ON THE SIDEWALL. CUT, ALTERED OR SHARPENED TIRES ARE Not PERMITTED. TIRE HEIGHT MAY NOT EXCEED 35 INCHES. TIRES MAY NOT BE FILLED WITH ANY BALLAST. TRUCKS WITH DUAL REAR WHEELS (2wd or 4wd) MAY ENTER AND RUN IN THIS CLASS.





D. WEIGHT CLASS IS 8000 POUNDS. AFTERMARKET BUMPERS, BRUSH GUARDS, SNOW PLOW FRAMES, WINCHES AND THE LIKE WILL BE PERMITTED IN THIS CLASS. WEIGHT BARS OR HANGING WEIGHTS WILL BE PERMITTED. NOTHING MAY EXTEND MORE THAN SIXTY (60) INCHES FROM THE CENTERLINE OF FRONT AXLE.



E. HITCH POINT MAY NOT BE MORE THAN 26" FROM GROUND. HITCH POINT MUST BE EASILY ACCESSED. NO ANGLED, LEVER, PIVOT, AXIS OR OTHER TYPES OF ‘TRICK’ HITCHES ARE ALLOWED AND THE HITCH MUST BE STATIONARY IN ALL DIRECTIONS. THE HITCH POINT MAY BE NO CLOSER THAN 36% OF THE WHEELBASE MEASURED FROM THE CENTERLINE OF THE REAR AXLE. EACH TRUCK DRIVER MUST SUPPLY HIS OWN TWISTED CLEVIS, IF NECESSARY TO HOOK. THE HOLE FOR HITCHING MUST ACCOMMODATE A MINIMUM OF 3. 5 INCHES ACROSS.





















F. ALL ENGINE BLOCKS MUST HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED AND AVAILABLE AS A FACTORY OPTION ON STANDARD ONE-TON or SMALLER PICK-UP TRUCKS. ENGINE MUST REMAIN IN THE STOCK LOCATION AS INTENDED BY THE MANUFACTURER. NO ALUMINUM ENGINE BLOCKS OR HEADS ARE PERMITTED UNLESS O. E. M. PUMP DIESEL IS THE ONLY FUEL PERMITTED. ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL. NITROUS OXIDE OR OTHER OXYGEN EXTENDERS INCLUDING PROPANE ARE ALLOWED. NO OVERHEAD CAMS. OEM STOCK HEAD FOR THE SERIES OF ENGINE USED. OEM INTAKE ONLY. ANY EXHAUST PERMITTED. 2. ALL VEHICLES WILL BE REQUIRED TO USE A KILL SWITCH. KILL SWITCHES ON DIESEL MOTORS WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING:



A. AIR SHUT OFF WILL CONSIST OF A CAP THAT CLOSES OVER THE END OF THE AIR INTAKE PIPE AND MUST BE SPRING LOADED TO A CLOSED POSITION.



B. AIR SHUT OFF MUST BE OPERATED FROM THE DRIVER’S SEAT AND FROM THE REAR OF TRUCK

3. DRIVE LINE SHIELDING



A. 4WD PICKUPS WILL HAVE 2 LOOPS PER SHAFT EVENLY SPACED ON DRIVELINE. 3/8” ALUMINUM OR 5/16 STEEL THICKNESS, 2 INCH MAX, AWAY FROM DRIVELINE.



B. LOOPS ON THE DRIVELINE MUST BE ROUND.





4. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS

ALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS MUST BE COVERED BY A S. F. I. 4. 1 OR BETTER BLANKET.



5. CLUTCHES AND BELL HOUSINGS

ALL VEHICLES ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE STEEL CLUTCH ASSEMBLIES AND FLYWHEELS. NO CAST IRON CLUTCH COMPONENTS. ALL NON S. F. I. BELL HOUSINGS MUST BE COVERED BY A S. F. I. 4. 1 OR BETTER BLANKET.



6. FIRE WALL

SHOULD HAVE STATIONARY FIREWALL BETWEEN ENGINE AND DRIVER COMPARTMENT.

OPERATION OF CONTEST RULES:





1. EACH DRIVER WILL DRAW FOR PULLING POSITION AT REGISTRATION. ALL REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE THIRTY MINUTES BEFORE THE LISTED STARTING TIME OF THE PULL.



2. DRIVER ONLY WILL BE ADMITTED TO THE PIT AREA AT NO CHARGE. IF TRUCK IS “HAULED IN”, A SECOND PERSON WILL BE ADMITTED FREE OF CHARGE. ALL OTHERS MUST PAY NORMAL PIT GATE ADMISSION AND SIGN THE INSURANCE WAIVER.



3. ENTRY FEE SHALL BE $30. 00. CASH ONLY WILL BE ACCEPTED. EACH TRUCK MAY BE ENTERED ONLY ONCE. NO MULTIPLE DRIVERS. ALL DRIVERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PRODUCE A VALID PHOTO DRIVER'S LICENSE AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION.



4. THERE IS NO TEST HOOK IN ANY CLASS AT AN A. T. P. A. OPERATED PULL BEGINNING IN 2002. IF THE SLED IS RESET ALL PULLERS THAT HAVE PREVIOUSLY HOOKED WILL HAVE THE OPTION TO RETURN AND RE-HOOK IMMEDIATELY OR TO DROP LAST. A FLOATING FINISH LINE MAY BE USED AT THE DISCRETION OF THE DIRECTOR OF COMPETITION. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE DRIVER TO KNOW THE RULES AT EACH PULL.



5. ANY TRUCK THAT IS NOT IN LINE AND READY TO PULL WHEN CALLED WILL BE IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFIED. NO REFUNDS!!.



6. ANY/ALL TRUCKS MAY BE REQUIRED TO RETURN TO THE SCALES AND RE-WEIGH AT ANY TIME.

ANY/ALL TRUCKS MAY BE REQUIRED TO UNDERGO AN ADDITIONAL TECH INSPECTION AT ANY TIME.



THESE DECISIONS ARE AT THE OPTION OF THE DIRECTOR COMPETITION OR THE HEAD FLAGMAN



7. OPERATION OF CONTEST WILL REVERT TO THE RULES OF THE AMERICAN TRACTOR PULLERS ASSOCIATION (ATPA) IN INSTANCES NOT SPECIFIED HEREIN.



8. DECISION OF THE TRACK OFFICIALS AND/OR DIRECTOR OF COMPETITION IS FINAL. NO APPEAL TO THE MANAGEMENT OF THE FAIR WILL BE HEARD OR CONSIDERED.



9. MINIMUM PURSE AT AN A. T. P. A. SANCTIONED EVENT WILL BE $600. 00 PER CLASS WITH THE SUGGESTED PURSE BREAK-DOWN AS FOLLOWS:

I saw something like this on a Big Rigs Series truck this weekend ("Brockasaurus"... he won BTW... . ) and dismissed it for some kind of oddity.



I assume these bolts are for keeping huffed turbo parts from flying out the pipe(s)?

You have got to be kidding me.

Thanks for the rules, 8 days to get parts on that don't even exist.



Does YOUR truck even meet these rules?? If it does, it will be very lonely to be the only truck entered in that class.



I'll just have to be happy with beating you once this year.

Strange

This may change my plans and I was really looking forward to pulling at Scheids. Does anyone know where to purchase a bell housing blanket and air shutoff, what is a reasonable price?? The rules seem to be for Open Class trucks in regard to licensing, water injection, aftermarket drivetrain, twin turbo's, etc. I understand a scattershield on Scheid's 8000+ rpm truck but what about a class for trucks that pull their RV trailers and camp for the event? Is this the only class on Friday? What rules for Saturday, does anyone know? Larry
 
Info on pulls

Just registered for Scheid's Extravaganza (didn't want to miss out on the t-shirt :) and later spoke with Dan. The rules above are for the ATPA pull on Friday and the only pickup class that night. On Saturday there will be pulls for street 7400lb, 8000lb, and an open class with rules similar to last year.

I think you should buy the extra equipment for Friday night so I can watch you on ESPN:D :D. If you can find me a deal on the safety equipment, I might compete for the consolation trophy :eek:. Larry

The parts they have listed would have to be adapted to our trucks, if you can find them, no way could I do that, in this short of time.



I played the ATPA ESPN game before, they did not film the trucks, but I still had to put Duramax, Lucas oil, and Cenpeco decals on my truck.





Make no mistake, these are not ATPA rules, these are Scheid Diesel Extravaganza Rules.



Its too bad they made rules to keep the street trucks out of the class, you know, the one that beat them?

i don't think i will be going over for this event. i can't pull friday becuase of the rules. on sat they are only having a 8000lb open class, 4k miles is a little far to drive for 1 hook.

I dont blame you Jim, you see..... this is what makes this sport become less fun for everyone. People get to uptight about it, and everyone should realize that it's just for fun and there is obviously no money in winning so why not make it where there is a class that everyone can pull in. ATPA has done a great job all season long with the up and coming Diesel truck class and for the rules to change for one pull is not worth my time let alone having to take off work and not make money. Hopefully, this was done with intentions of letting some of the less street legal trucks in, not to keep the ones that's been pulling with ATPA out. Take care!

Hate to hear that you're not coming. If you are still single turbo you should be able to take away the drugs and pull in three classes on Saturday. The 7400lb street single wheel, 8000lb street dual wheel (single wheel trucks are allowed) and the 8000lb open (nitrous is allowed). HTH's, Larry

the problem with my truck is that i do have twins. dan schied called me back just a little bit ago and said he is going to talk with the atpa tonight and we should know more tomorrow. he doesn't want to have the only truck in the class. but it is a atpa show. so we will wait and see until tomorrow.

A FLOATING FINISH LINE MAY BE USED AT THE DISCRETION OF THE DIRECTOR OF COMPETITION. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE DRIVER TO KNOW THE RULES AT EACH PULL.



5. ANY TRUCK THAT IS NOT IN LINE AND READY TO PULL WHEN CALLED WILL BE IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFIED. NO REFUNDS!!.



6. ANY/ALL TRUCKS MAY BE REQUIRED TO RETURN TO THE SCALES AND RE-WEIGH AT ANY TIME.

ANY/ALL TRUCKS MAY BE REQUIRED TO UNDERGO AN ADDITIONAL TECH INSPECTION AT ANY TIME.

7. OPERATION OF CONTEST WILL REVERT TO THE RULES OF THE AMERICAN TRACTOR PULLERS ASSOCIATION (ATPA) IN INSTANCES NOT SPECIFIED HEREIN.



8. DECISION OF THE TRACK OFFICIALS AND/OR DIRECTOR OF COMPETITION IS FINAL. NO APPEAL TO THE MANAGEMENT OF THE FAIR WILL BE HEARD OR CONSIDERED.



9. MINIMUM PURSE AT AN A. T. P. A. SANCTIONED EVENT WILL BE $600. 00 PER CLASS WITH THE SUGGESTED PURSE BREAK-DOWN AS FOLLOWS:

Gee, now some of us can enter six pulls..... do you think the ole' Black Beast will survive or that the wife will bankroll the entry fees?? I was going to thank Dan Scheid for being so responsive to our wishes... ... but I maybe I should wait and see what the carnage costs :D :D ;).
 
wow, well know i guess i have to rethink this. dan thanks for letting our street trucks pull with the dedicated pullers. this should be alot more fun on friday night now.
