I've had POD's, I've had 215's, I've had DD3+'s, I have 370's now and I absolutely hate them. they smoke all the time, it runs rough, and has less power. Yes, they were ballanced. Maybe some one has had better luck but not me.

I can't believe we only have Swank, Josh, myself and Brenden participating in this thread?? What gives? Must not be too many folks interested in something over POD's :-laf .

Uhhmm, just cause I don't have anything to say, doesn't mean I'm not setting here reading..... :-laf You just have to keep in mind that my 93 needs to be reliable to pull a big trailer all the time, and the 90 is my work in process. It needs a bunch of drivetrain help before I start fueling it too much. Then someday after I win the lottery I'm building a first gen pulling truck.

My question is... ... where is swankmetal at? I don't see him, unless he has changed names?

Oh maybe I said that because he's been participating via PM's :-laf .

Yeah yeah, typical tdr membership ;) .

Thanks hdm48 for your input. There's a few choices for us out there, but not everything works as good as the other. Of course different turbo combo's, stick or auto comes into play as well.

This could end up a pullin tractor smokey injector that doesn't make power, just a good smoke show :( . I hope not. I'm sure this is just the next step down that slippery slope for me. Next will be HG, firerings, studs, head, CLUTCH, trans  ..... I just can't let that yellow truck be the only 1st genner tearing up all the newer trucks on Dave Dunbar's dyno :-laf ;) ...

Maybe if we can get more than a couple 1st gens over 500hp, we might get some attention in the performance department  .

Well whaddya want me to do, step in and yell "Ra Ra Ra" and bounce with my Pom Poms? :-laf I don't want to drag down the important conversations with useless posts.

I know, maybe if you helped me pay for one of my kids, and part of my wife then I would have more money for bombing. Some of you single guys get to have all the fun with trucks, I just get to have differnt fun from time to time. ;) I do believe that with my high performance truck I will need to upgrade the auto/valve body/torque convertor, before fueling.

I'm watching, but I have to get more turbo before I replace my POD's. The exhaust is small at 3", but it's straight (not crushed over the axle) and has a straight-thru muffler.

Keep talking, we're taking notes. :-{}

Bill, I read this thread as well, but I'm not really in the market for bigger injectors or mega power, I have enough smoke for now. Right now my clutch is holding and the getrag still seems ok, so I'm in a holding pattern.

I just wish my son could find the original injectors out of his 89 motor... . I'd edm a hole in one so you could have a complete set.

I think those would pour fuel, not flow it. :-laf :-laf

Bill, I am just reading and waiting for some results. I am getting a B2 for my twins this weak. I will also be one of the 1st gens over 500 :-laf

It's good to see this discussion happening... . for the longest time there were NO options for us guys... then along came some of the more well known options like the POD injector, the 190's etc.....

Now with the results that some of the guys are producing with their "old" trucks the field seems to be opening up a bit for fueling options like the "stage" injectors etc... .

I think we will see a number of choices coming for us guys... and I also think that their will be some "trial and error" efforts just like there was for the later model trucks until the bugs get worked out. For us guy's the one thing that makes the big difference is the injection pump... it is not as reliable at the higher popoff pressures like the p-pumps... this make's it a bit more difficult for the injector(s) and the pump to co-exist. As a result we'll have a little more head scratching and tinkering till we get a few injector choices "fine tuned" that will work well in our daily drivers...

I hope that the progress made to date, in the performance/dyno numbers will encourage the innovators/companies out there to step up and give some viable/affordable choices. .

One last thing... some of you may have noticed the new forum on the site... it gives all of us an opportunity to have input into products and idea's that we'd like to see/have come available. It's up to us to provide input and ideas that the vendors/suppliers etc can use when it comes to making/supplying new products.

pb... ... .

now i've got a question. dave, why did you ditch the DD3's? were the 370's a step up in power? anyway, love to hear about your different takes on all those. thanks.

dave

OH no, I'd never get rid of those. However, my son grins every time I mention them. He says, "those'll bolt right in dad, nudge-nudge-hint-hint-wink-wink".

And like I said before, I lost power with the 370's.

I am not so patiently waiting for Lenny at Dyno-mite diesel to make me a set of his #4's

Dave

ok guys, i started an "interest" thread in the vendor forum. so, if you're "interested", please go over there and add your name to the list. maybe we can get some attention.

:) I'm watchin' also. I don't have the money for big mods with the wife going to school, a 3 year old, and one coming tomorrow. My next step may be PODs, but I 'm hesitant because of smoke. I also need a cab very badly, both my front mounts are rotted away. I'd love to be in the over 400 hp club, maybe in a few years.

Wow Bill, You got them all in hear LoL . I expect a full report when you get those bad boys in :-laf as for me I got a couple of Idea's about where I am going with injectors. We will see if they work out or not.

By the way, If you want your spouse to let you play with the truck all you have to do is buy her some Diamonds or some thing to keep her mind off what you are doing :D

Thanks

Brenden

Bill I think we are all hear watchin this thread and waiting for some results. I have my truck parked for the winter while driving my dads 94 ctd for plowing. It's sitting there waiting for me to tear into the pump but the loan/note is taking all my money. I have been talkin to a local guy that has twins and I am going to build a set as soon as I find an ht3b for cheap. Not sure what to do for a top yet but have been doing my homework. Can't wait to hear how your new sticks do. I want more than a POD and don't want to spend money twice. Hope to be at 400-450 by next year. Keep it up guys Oo.

Cade

I would like to see the EGT'S that the pod's make... . from all that I have seen they sound like a great way to melt down some pistons... . The only thing I can think of is that those using them must be running their trucks empty down hill in Jan. to keep from burning up the engines... ... So some one please do tell how you are getting away with dumping that much fuel in and not burning up the engine or burning holes in the pistons??????

Calm down Grandpa :-laf ;) , POD's and these injectors are not for everybody. Most owners with POD's that tow, have to drive by the pyro.

I don't drive by pryo. Today I took one of our trailers and got 8 Yards of 1/2 blue chip shail. I don't know how much that weights but it is a LOT! :-laf

I also took a load to the dump that load was 7. 5 tons on the dump scales. I have enough power that I don't need to stand on it. Just drive normal, Get a free flowing exhaust, And don't forget to throw away your stock turbo :D

Thanks

Brenden
