Scheids or Muncie Which one?

If a person was only able to pick one or the other, which would it be?



Take everything into consideration: dyno, drags, pulls, # of vendors, the weather(what is the typical weather for the events over the last couple of years) would suck to plan something and travel that far and not be able to do much, distance from dyno to the pulls to the drags and hopefully they are not all held at the same exact times. the facilities,are vendors selling products(are there big name vendors or products there) and probably the most important the # of people that show up.



I would not want there to be only like 4 drag racers to show and only about 6 pullers to show. Would seem kind of like a wasted trip. Not just for these either , but # of people overall attending. It would be nice for hundreds to thousands to be in attendance





Besides these two events how would you rank other events that one would be very pleased to attend. Name the events and where they are located and approximate date they are held. List in the order you would attend(1... 2... 3... 4... etc. . ). AND list what types of things that go on (pull, drag dyno, vendors, in conjunction with national pulls, etc... ... ..... ). also list how far you think would a REASONABLE drive to atted each event. (ex. this is a nice event but I don't think most people would drive to this event if were over 4 hours to get there)

This will not only benefit me, but others that do not have the time to go to all these events and would like to pick one to attend and try to schedule around. Let us have a good description so we might not be let down with some high expectation of different events. List as many events as you can.

My vote is for TiM.



Just about every vendor that matters attends TiM.



Eric has some new stuff brewing for this year that will make it the best yet. The pre-party stuff, and the welcome party stuff alone is going to be a good time.



There is PLENTY of pulling action at TiM. And provided it doesn't rain like last year... there will be plenty of drag racing action at TiM.

Scheid has more puller tractors (makes sense since 90% of their HP stuff is tractors... )... which I would like to see... and will probably be able to make this summer...



From what I have heard... they are both good events... but TiM is a little 'bigger' and has more attendees.



TiM seems to support a really good combination of BS'ing, drag racing and pulling. I found it to be an almost perfect blend of everything I love in life. It's all very well planned out so that everyone kinda moves from one venue to the next. There's also downtime between events so that you have a little time to do whatever you want. I have been to events that were too rigorously planned and found myself being bored to death in what seemed like an endless string of meetings..... TiM is far from boring... and again, is very well planned out.



If Eric gets brunette models this year (like I asked for... )- it will be darn near 100% perfect. :-laf

Thunder In Muncie is the best of the two. Most of the big vendors are there and the first day is held in a rural area so the attendees can have fun ripping up the road with smoke bellowing. The croud was awsome and this year should be better. During the Scheid event they were given warning by the police that if the smoke doesn't stop the event would never be held there again. I also liked the pulls being only trucks. The drag races would have been great had it not rained and it is a 1/4 mile strip and not 1/8 mile. Also at Schied the drag races were rushed because of another regular race scheduled the same day.

TIM is probably my vote for #1. Friday night cruise and party. Saturday... dyno runs, vendor fair, show and shine, truck pulls. Sunday ¼ mile drags. The weather is generally cooler which is a plus for me.

However, Schieds is a very close second, but its also a little different. Friday, its dyno runs, vendor fair, show and shine and a few seminars. Truck pull and maybe a few tractor classes that afternoon and evening. Saturday morning I think its more dyno runs and drag races, but its only eighth mile. Saturday afternoon and evening its all the trucks and tractors you can round up and hook to a sled. Down side though, (for me) its in August, and in '02 it was like 300° and a billion % humidity.



There are a few more out west, and I am sure they are great events to attend, but I havent been to any of those... yet.

This just is'nt for me , but to help everyone to try and attend an event and keep the interest in the diesel aftermarket growing.

I would also vote T I M for the first choice, it is a great way to start the summer off and the weather is great so far except one day last year. This year with more stuff earlyer in the day saturday it will make it a little harder to "woop" it up friday night and still roll out of bed for the early pulls, but will have to make it work. Schieds if fun also the the weather was very humid the last time I was there. Makes it suck just a little especially if your camping in the sun.

If I had to pick one it would depend on what you require of the event.



TiM = not as many trucks pulling, ALL vendors there, HUGE show N Shine (not sure on drags left Saturday night).



Scheid = 40 trucks PLUS each class pulling, select vendors, not as big of a show N shine, and major drags!! Oo.

are there some others that anyone would recommend and how do they compare? I know that these are probably the main 2 with national draw, but are there other big ones for mainly in just the eastern, or western coasts?(esp. east coast as that is were I am at. Hint Hint)







Let everyone know! The more people that know about an event the more interest there is, the more interest the more that will try to attend, the more people that attend, the more money to be spent, the more money the more vendors, more vendors and people to talk to, the more people attend, the more people(again) attend the more recognition of the event , the more recognition the more willing sponsors would be to help out. the more the sponsors the BIGGER the CASH PURSES that would be offered. The more money, the more the people attend! As you see, I think the more people you can get to attend the bigger and better the diesel scene will be. What did I just say!WOW
