Does anyone have any real world numbers to share with me after running a Scheid Street cam in a 12v engine. What type of power and MPG increase did you see if any?

Garbe:

Welcome to the website!

I have one of Scheid's Street Cams in my 1996 Dodge CTD 12 valve. You can look at my signature to see what other modifications I have.

I am running a 913 pump, very large Scheid Custom Injectors, and at my most recent dyno run laid down 789 H. P. /1383 Torque on a "Dynojet 248C"

Dynamometer on just #2 diesel. Around town with my set-up, I see about 16-16. 5 MPG and on the highway about 18 MPG IF I keep my foot out of the throttle!! :-laf If I get on it alot that mileage will drop to 13-14 MPG around town and about 14. 5-15 on the highway.

I don't know if this has helped you alot or not,... ... I know my truck is a "severe case" and not "mildly" upgraded.

Thanks John, for the info, I only have the plate slip forward, one size bigger injectors and a BHAF everything else is still stock. Just wondering if would be worth the money to get any better mileage...

What did the cam cost ?
Anytime says millage I want to take a look .
Then next is we always changed lifters when a cam was changed so that should be looked into .

Is Scheid's the same as piers ? $600 and you send them your cam. They custom grind it and send it back?

With this mod do you have to run fly cut pistons? or any other mods for that matter to make this cam work?

From what I understand they will send you one already ground and if you don't send them your old one there is a core charge of around $400. 00. You don't have to fly cut the pistons or change the valve springs.

You are welcome on the info! ;)

9 Lives and JFaughn:

I think the prices and info Garbe gave you guys is pretty close to what the cam costs etc. You don't have to "flycut" the pistons if you go with one of their milder ground cams, but with the more radical grinds you do.

You guys can call and talk to Mike Wood @ Scheid Diesel (Effingham, Ill. ) if you want more information on their cams. Here is the toll free number for you:

1-800-669-1934.

Good luck.
