I pulled my rocker arm pedestals to have them machined to accept studs. I noticed the rocker arm tips were worn. The wear surface where it touches the valve stem is smooth, but I can feel a small notch when I drag my nail across it. Is this considered acceptable wear for an engine with 235k miles? Think I should polish them? Just looking for some thoughts before I put this thing back together. Thank you.

That's interesting, mine always look polished however I did have one that was hammered up pretty bad. I could never figure out why, far as I know the replacement is doing fine. Can you post a picture of what you have?

Wow. Mine is not merely that bad. Mine is smooth with a very slight lip that will barely catch my finger nail. Do you think that is acceptable? Thank you for the reply.

Any good auto machine shop can smooth those tips back to new condition and you probably want to have that done.
