scotty air 2- who has it on ?

can anybody give me opinion on their scotty air 2 performance. the cowl hole cut-out sounds very good, after all is there really any cool air in engine compartment. it does seem like a big piece tho,does it get in the way of anything. thanks guy's, i learn more on this sight than anywhere!

I ran a scotty2 on my 2nd gen, and my dad has them on both of his trucks. It is hands down the best intake system for the 2nd gen trucks available. The only complaint I have ever heard is about the noise, but it just depends on personal opinion. For EGT reduction it simply can't be beat.

I bought a used one awhile back, but havn't put it on yet since I still haven't got my dd2 in yet. I was wondering if anyone had problems of the thing pulling water in when it is raining? I was looking at how it mounts and thought there would be a good chance of it pulling some in maybe when stopped or driving slow. Or would this even hurt if a little water got pulled in?

And No, I've never had a problem with rain.

I put five dollars into a high pressure car wash and aimed it right into the cowl grill with the truck running. I was totally expecting the engine to gargle... I wanted to know first hand if it would or not before releasing this to the public six years ago.

I only saw a few small runs of moisture on the inside of the housing.



No worries on the moisture.



And for climates with snow, I filled my factory air box on my 96... packed it with snow in a blizzard. Stock paper filter was falling apart.

Never had that problem with the Scotty II.

hey guy's, thanks for all the feedback!!what about this, the advantage of slipping on the pre-filter sock on the easy to get at filter on the afe, in very dusty conditions, i go to baja to my little gilligans island retreat 3 to 4 times a year,VERY dusty. would'nt that be a nice feature. or with the scotty just have a designated baja filter,and one for home.

I have a AFE pre-filter sock on my ScottyII. Works great. Really helps to keep the filter clean.

I have run my Scotty 2 for a year now. Ya just got to love that whine! It is really handy now that I have installed my #5 plate, now egt worries... . time to move foward... Does anyone have the part # for the sock? Thanks in advance.

I got mine from Piers. The Scott II uses a AFE20-40044 filter and part# for the pre-filter is AFE28-10021.

Seem to remember originally he used K&N RE880 wonder if the latter filters were close dimensionally.

I do the Scotty II & cowl hole.



I TAG'ed mine and it cut the turbine whine about by 50%. I have not put in a cowl dam, tried the TAG first and even the wife is happy with the noise level, we can talk now without raised voices.



I tow 13k 5er at times. Then the noise is even less than around town.



I like the Scotty II. Good concept, get the air from OUTSIDE.



I will sock mine when I change the filter this fall. Two filters, one to run, one to clean and LIGHTLY oil.

If one only uses the side cowl intake, and does not cut the hole in the firewall due to too much cab noise, how much EGT reduction is there?



How about compared to an existing BHAF?



Have been thinking of going w/ a scotty setup, but dont know how much improvement there would be over the 40 dollar BHAF.



Also, still hesitant about using an oiled type filter.
