Megacannon with the 4. 5" cowl hole. I switched to it from a scotty2 because I just really didnt like the sound. Its not that it was too loud or annoying. But when I went to the scotty2 I seemed to loose a great deal of my turbo whistle to an immense sucking sound. I switched to the megacannon and left the hole and now I got my turbo whistle back and then some :D. EGTs didnt get any hotter either.

I like the clean & neat fit and finish of the scotty II ... got the reduced EGT's along with it

IMHO both work well just one looks better... and I look good :p

Mega Cannon with cowl hole :D

Works for me and the new blue filter with my Patriot Blue truck looks great!!!!:cool:

I like the Scotty but remember neither one will do you a bit of good unless you have increased fueling and need the extra air.

With a stock truck the OEM filter is just fine.

Scotty II ordered ... not here yet :{

Modified the cowl ... big time. Double layered the back wall of the cowl area from the left most passenger side to the air opening with that sound deadner stuff, constructed 2 aluminum 'dams' about 4" apart, with drains & stuffed the 4" wide area with wrapped foam so that the cowl lid just compresses it. Also stuffed the opening to the air intake in the left most cowl area.

I'm hoping that the 4" wide cowl dam that extends to the cowl lid will separate the objectional turbo sound from the air intake. The sound deadning material should keep the back side of the cowl from vibrating. Now just need the Scotty II. :(

Well I have run the Scotty Air II and did like it but still something’s were running threw my mind about water getting into that 4 inch hole like if it was a steady down poor. I did remove the box and filter then did my own test and with the water hose on mist it still found its way out the 4-inch hole and that cannot be good…….

It does look like the Mega Cannon is winning!

Its a 4. 5" hole... I need to mention that as several folks have cut a 4" hole and wonder why the Scotty does not fit.

I put five dollars worth of high pressure car wash aimed in and around the bottom of the windshield and I did not have a problem with the water that did make its way down the housing. Afterall, you could do the same test at the grill where the factory inlet is and see moisture in the factory air box too. I did this with the truck running WAY back in 98'.

In addition to that... if one was to drive through a snow storm... the factory box could and would fill up... been there and done that.

The Scotty did not and the added benefit is it will dry whereas the paper filters will ... fall apart.

This was not a post to put any filter system down I just wanted to See what other people were running and what I found with mine. I would still use the scotty but would like to try the mega Cannon out. I would like to see pics of the dam that another person posted about with the scottyll. I really don't think you could go wrong with either filter system!
