I bought a '01 2500 HO a while back and it had a Scotty II with a KSB1 turbo. The whine is uncomfortably loud when I'm on long trips and I've been looking to quiet it down. I've heard that many people have had success with a TAG but it doesn't look like they sell them anymore. Anybody here have one for sale or know where I could acquire one?

TAG is a subject that doesn't come up very often these days. Diesel Power Products originally opened a mile from my house and I used to hang around there to kill time, Dave gave me some TAGs for testing when he was developing them. I may be able to scare up one in my garage. I still run one most the time.

As for the Scotty II noise you might pop your windshield wipers off and pull the plastic cover off and try adding some SoundMat or Dynamat to the cowl area, I heard that might help. I almost put a Scotty in my '01 back in the day but never could get the nerve up to cut a big hole into my cowl! Scott of Scotty intake fame is a friend of mine as well.

Also as a bit of Trivia, Scott is the one who came up with the BOMB acronym (Better Off Modified Baby!) but you don't see it expressed nearly as often as it was 15 years ago.

OK I guess I couldn't resist a quick walk down memory lane :p

Old days!!:) I ran the Scotty for a while, I remember drilling that big ol' hole in the cowl....... I only ran it for a year or so, way too much turbo noise in the cab when towing. I would imagine the Scotty II would be a collector's item today.

Talk about Old times, all you need to do is look here.....
Larry Willard,Vaughn MacKenzie and Bob Wagner all posting in one thread,LOL.

BTW,the Scotty II and a B1 charger has to be a sweet sound inside the cab.I ran one on my old 12v with the Garrett Charger and is was a sound only a Owner could love. The ONLY way I could quiet it down for long trips was to switch to a AFE Stage 2 and run the lid on the system.

Andy, that makes at least two of us on this thread who predate the TDR website...still miss the CDW days! Some of the early Cummins stuff I learned was from you and Evan Beck on that board. Evan just posted a pic on FB today of his
new 98.5 regular cab longbed while on a cross country road trip.

I've got a TAG sitting in the garage. It was for a HY/HX-35. I'll part with it. Haven't used it in a while.

The TAG and Scotty caught my attention and I read the thread and it brought back names and memories. I think the last time I saw several of those guys was at a May Madness in either 2001 or 2002 when John Holmes hosted and was still held in Carson City/Minden, NV. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!:)

Bill I hadn't thought about that but you are right, I don't think we have seen some of them since Carson City. The last one up there I think was in 2000.

Some of us are refugees from the Cummins mailing list (though I was a late-comer there.....)

Not trying to jack the thread, but I found an old comp box and had my son sell it used. The kid that bought it came back after a few minutes and wanted to fight because it didn't plug in to the obd2 port
We could not believe it. Nice to see some oldies still here
