Brad-
I like it too! RankRam asked me about my RA3 and here's a cut-and-paste of my response:
RankRam-
It's the Scotty 3 w/ UNI filter. I was originally going to get the Scotty 3 when they still had the AFE. When I heard that they switched to the UNI, I did some research as well as talked to some guys at work that are into dirt bikes and they all spoke highly of the UNI too. As far as performance, even before the new turbo, it did cool down somewhat quicker than stock. EGT's hard to say because I've done some performance upgrades all around the same time. The Scotty RA3 is about +/-$100 cheaper than the airboxes too; Scotty himself is awesome to deal with in terms of customer service too.
I haven't done any oil analysis yet, but have done the "white glove" test on the air intake tube every +/- 1000 miles since install and everything looks good. I'm due for another oil change and was thinking about talking to Cashman Equipment or Detroit Diesel for an oil analysis since they service our mine haul trucks and I heard that they do oil analyses on those trucks. If I end up doing an analysis, I still will not have a reference point on my truck.
The only thing I don't like about the RA3, and this is really small potatoes, is that it points slightly upwards where the intake tube connects. So with my home made air intake (4" aluminum pipe w/ 2 rubber 90's), the second 90 almost needs to be 110 degrees. But with a little tweaking, it will work. If I would have got an AFE, then it would have been a straight shot into the air intake, but I would need to cut a bit out of the bottom of the airbox so that the HTB2-to-intercooler tube would fit without interference. So 6 in one hand; 1/2 dozen in the other! I've been talking to a local hose supply company to see if they can custom make something for me. The company orders so much stuff for the mines that they said they could probably get my custom order in with the mix to keep costs down. I'll find out on Monday.
Hope this helps-
