Hand washed truck this afternoon and noticed I have a couple of scratches in the paint where I must of rubbed the zipper of my winter coat against the truck putting items in the tool box.

Rubbing compound or what is used on these new paints to take scratches out?

I assume, you are talking about the clear coat here. IMHO... it would depend on how you define a small scratch. If it is real light you might be able to use 3M rubbing compound with a follow up of 3M polishing compound then wax. If it is too deep I just use 2000 and water before the compounds... Be careful the factory clear is THIN... JB

My vote is on the 3M products. I agree, it depends on the depth of the scratch, as to what product to start with.

As A general rule, if you can catch your fingernail in it no polish will fix it completely, but just lessen the appearance a bit.

Good luck.

I spend alot of time at my Deer Lease and I have recieved numerous scratches. GS-27 took out every one of them. Easy to apply and remove, very cheap at Walmart. (2-3$, 5oz tube) Safe on any color and clear coats! If you have deep scratches, keep working at them for a few days, before you know it> The're Gone!!!! Good Luck!

Griots Garage makes a great polish that takes out scratches. It's "fine hand polish" I got the car care kit and really like all their products.
