I know it might be a bit childish to do this, but thats where it's fun Oo.

my 04. 5 is stock, only mod has been the redneck BHAF, I have EGT and Boost gage.

here's the question, what is the easiest (least expensive) way to blow some smoke out of the tail pipe? right now if I hop onto the throttle and spin the engine above 2500rpm I'll get a nice haze, but theres not much substance to it. I can see where I could put in a low ohm resistor to the MAP sensor to increase the output to fool the computer into thinking there is boost. I can also see where this might damage the MAP sensor or the computer.

every time I have the money scraped together to get a nice box, something else in my life requires the money more :{ (no it's not the wife  ) my truck already hauls tail to the point where my friend wont even line up with me in his Mustang GT :-laf I just want some smoke to go with the get-up and go.

I dont think there is really an inexpensive way. you could buy a TST PMCR and then jump the 5volt signal to the map sensor on the TST harness, Then the TST sees full boost and when you step on the "wow" pedal, the TST fuels NOW!!!

Then flip a switch and its back to normal TST fueling...

"Sradke" did this I think.

MUST BE A SICK MUSTANG, A STOCK CUMMINS MIGHT GET INTO THE 80-S WHILE A STOCK MUSTANG GT WILL HIT 100 IN THE QUARTER UNLESS ITS OLD OR SICK... :--)

Crossing over the 5 volts to the map sensor is fun. We did it on Reb. b 's truck. It would smoke like a train coming off the line. Even with the boxes off it would smoke too. Basically it will give you full fuel whenever you floor it. No waiting for boost to come up.

It all depends on how much smoke you really want? If you just flat want smoke I can make our inexpensive XZT smoke pretty good. That is probably the cheapest way I know of that would be safe. If you need more info let me know or you can PM me.

I could not find any instructions on how to cross the 5v over to the map sensor, any help would be much appreciated. THanks much

How can we do the 5v over thing on a 24 valve? I had the idea but thats all it was, an idea!

the MAP sensor is just a pressure transducer, when the pressure is maxed out you will have 5v or there about comeing out of it, atmospheric pressure yealds very low voltage. I remember seeing a chart with different pressures and the corresponding voltages. anyway, you will have a 5v feed wire, a ground wire to dissapate any excess voltage and then the sence wire that goes to the computer so it can adjust the fuel mapping in accordance to boost pressure.

I can see where a switch, a 4v ziener diode and a few wires could fool the computer into thinking there was say, 25# of boost when there wasnt any, now that would be fun going down the road, let off the throttle hit the switch and floor it at the same time smokeing out the people trying to cut you off.

I may be borrowing the 4 channel o-scope I got at work yesterday this weekend

transmission fluid, and no muffler. works on my 90 and 03 plus it helps keep injectors clean and top of piston clean it is also a good cover if off road diesel is used and you get pulled over(happened to me)at an ag. station. it also helps seperate any water in tank. i put a quart once a month, for lots of smoke 3 quarts, watch the head lights disappear at night.

last night I put on a 36 ohm resistor between the 5v feed line and the boost sence wire. I didnt get more smoke, but I did notice my turbo spooled a bit quicker, the slight haze I would get on a good hard push of the throttle is all gone once above 1500rpm. and not only that but I noticed on the highway this morning my boost pressure at 70 was up about 2 pounds and the truck felt like it was running better. EGT's were up by about 50F. I have a 33 ohm resistor I might strap on tonight and see what the difference is.

edit: just to let you know the butt dyno did not show of any increase of acceleration, but from my gages and listeneing to the turbo I could tell something was a little bit different.
