Sounds like a good choice. Can the BFG be studded? We have some serious ice problems here.



I agree about the load range D. I do load the truck up with some pretty heavy ballast for ice/snow driving but am still well below the GWVR. I wouldn't tow or haul anything heavy in those conditions anyway.



D is cetainly better than no rating. I did find a lot of 265/70 R17 winter tires but many were just a Q passenger tire rating- no good.
 
If anyone has a set of take-off dually steel wheels, I'm interested. Shoot me a PM or email. I wanna set up a "Winter" and "Summer" rim/tire combo.
 
Just to follow up:



I had a heck of a time finding the Cooper Discoverer in an E range, they are/were on national backorder.



I finally got a set in 265/70R17 from tiresavings.com and am very happy with them. I did want a tire I could get studded and from what I have researched this is the only tire in this size and load rating you can do that with.
