At one time I had the seat belt chime disabled; only the red blinking on the dash console would remind me belt not fastened. A little work at the Dealer - completely different matter - and now that I have truck back damn thing is chiming as new. I forgot what I did to disable - help! Any one found a single fuze OR simple wire to disconnect (cut?) so the chime will stop ringing if seat belt not fastened?

The sequince of using your ignition key and lock switch is in the manual to disable the chime.

I don't have my manual handy right now so I can't tell you the page. But it is in there.

I tried the owners manual sequence many times and never could get it to shut off so just put a scotch-loc on the drivers seat belt buckle wire.

Shorting those two wires on the buckle together simulates the belt is buckled. Added bonus is no more red light either. I do wear my belt.

This is a programable feature with the dealer scan tool, it may or not be able to be disabled without the tool, if so the instructions should be in your owners manual.

Still no Good

Thx to all with the suggestions AND I did find in the manual the instructions. But as one of you already stated - doesn't work! I go thru the whole procedure, everythings fine, but I never get the final chime notice that it took. And it doesn't 'take', still chimes when seat belt not fastened. So . . the manual is bogass OR at least will not work on the "2004. 5's.

The easiest thing is to unplug the seat belt sensor between the center console and the driver's seat. Take a 3/16" female spade connector and use it to jumper across the two pins in the connector closest to the floor. Your truck will forever think that you have the seatbelt connected, and your worries will be over. With judicious use of pliers, it is possible to make a 1/4" female spade connector work as well if that's all you have. Takes less than 5 minutes and is completely reversible.

I had the same thing happen. I had disabled the seat belt chime on my 2004 Ram. Without any intervention it started chiming again. I have tried several times to turn it off again using the manual with no success. I am going to do the jumper wire task to shut it up.

If you think that chime is bad on a 3rd Gen. , listen to it on a 1st Gen:-laf Just a constant BUZZ like you are going to die soon if you don't buckle up!

on my 2004. 5 i just took the center seat belt and ran it under the top center console and pluged it in the buckle. I thought it would bother me Hitting my side but its fine. It should work i dont think the changed the center buckle till mid 2005
