I have followed the owners manual instructions for turning off the audible reminder to buckle the seat belt. It seems to work for 2 or 3 cycles of starting the truck and then reverts back to the default.

Now before I start getting lectured on seatbelts, let me say that when I am on public roads (anything above about 15 mph) ;) , I always wear my seatbelt. However, when I am working at my place, I am in and out of the truck alot and this dinger drives me absolutely crazy. :{

Any help out there?

I have had the dealer do it once, and then I had to do it after the dash cluster was replaced...

Mine has never came back after either time of turning it off...

I don't mind the visual reminder as it would help if I left the back 40 to head to town and had my mind on something else. However, that dinger just drives me crazy!!!!! #@$%!

I did what the manual says to turn it off... . it didn't "take" the first few times I did it, but once it did I haven't had any problems with it coming back. That was probably 6 weeks ago.

not mine......

I have tried and tried to get mine to stay off. Followed the book. Followed the advice given here. Nothing has worked. I don't want to make a permanent thing of it with Scotchlocks, so what now?

unplug the connection under the driver's seat on the right side and make a little jumper wire to go from one side of the plug to the other. I always use my seat belt, but I like to start the truck before I put on the seat belt so the engine has a little more time to warm up. ;)

When I did mine, I remember trying several times without success. Always, I was standing outside the truck and leaning in to do the buckle-unbuckle 3 times.

Finally I did it while sitting in the seat and it worked. I suppose I was just too slow and uncoordinated to do it the other way.

The dealer disabled mine on the 98, 04, and the 04. 5 and then I disabled the one in the wifes new Sebring convertible. No, I dont wear seatbelts. I have a State DMV issued exemption card due to an accident 15 years ago that the shoulder belt wasted my neck and shoulder on a 10 mph hit. ( I must say, I enjoy handing the card to the State Trooper when I get pulled over and he already has his ticket 1/2 written! :-laf

I'll give it a try........

I have tried doing it while seated. It just never worked. I will try the jumper in the plug. That should work if using a Scotchlock will. Thanks.

First of all, sorry about your shoulder and neck.

HOWEVER, only in Oregon would you get an exemption like that. I mean, never mind the fact that I would rather have a messed up neck and shoulder than be dead. Same state that REQUIRES a chuckle-head to pump your gas will give you an exemption to not wear a seatbelt. Simply boggles the mind.

At least you have a valid reason though. Everytime I hear somebody start in with the "I don't wear a seatbelt because they kill people... " I think to myself that the person is doing the human gene-pool a favor by not wearing one and hope that they don't have kids.

I assume your accident 2Gen3Gen caused some kind of trouble that you are still suffering from? That sucks.

BUT, I digress. I wear my seat belt everywhere I go. I did turn the dinger off just to see if it would work and it did. Two weeks later, I turned it back on. Both times the procedure worked like a charm.

Just for the record, I still wear the lap portion of the belt with the shoulder part tucked upner the arm about 75% of the time. Yes, my shoulder will be messed up for life. As for Oregon and the gas pumpers, they are dangerous to your car. they can never hit the hole on the first shot. At least the state allows you to pump your own diesel! Also, when I fuel up my Corvette, I just get out and lay a white towel across the deck. At that point, Goober hands me the pump and says he dosn't want to be responcible for the paint!

As for Oregon being the only one to issue the card, it was actually easier to get an exemption in California. All they require is a Dr. 's written signature on a perscription stating the disibility and fold it up in your wallet. Ive had that for about 12 years now and only one time I was ever questioned. Once they got a view at the Oregon card, all was good. Trust me, I would rether have a 100% shoulder and wear the belt than be in the pain Im in 100% of the time. :(
