Does anyone have the secrect trick to turn off the seat belt warning chime? If so could you please pass it on?

Thanks

Ohh the dreaded seatbelt warning!

On my 05 I did this and it worked, same instructions it gives in owners manual.

First thing plug your driver side seat belt in.

Turn your key to the on position, dont have to start truck but make sure the key is on, unplug your seat belt, then plug it back in, do this about three times, (i know sounds weird) on the last one leave it plugged in.

You should hear your seatbelt warning chime once. Then turn key to off position. Dreaded chime gone! If it doesnt work the first time, try it again, took me about 2 times to get it right.

Hope this helps! :D

kuponododge,

Thanks for that info.

I just tried it on my 06, and the 3rd time it worked. I love it!

It still chimes about 5 or 6 times when you first turn the key on, and the SB warning light still stays on, but at least the irritating chime is gone, while driving down the road.

Don't get me wrong, I use my seat belt, except when I'm doing chores on and around my property.

As a second thought, I have a huge dislike for having "Big Brother" brow-beat me about seat belts, while I'm driving "my" truck, that I paid good money for.

Thanks again, and I'll be passing this along to my friends.

on drivers side seat belt latch inside cover from the floorboard to latch there are 2 wire just solder them together or butt splice them and ur horn won't go off with door open and seat belt light on dash will go out

If you connect the seat belt wires the chime won't sound at all and the light will stay off. This is the easiest annoying sound to fix. The Key-In-Ignition is more involved.

Horn

what about the horn honkin with no belt on and driver door ajar

( leaning to watch trailer when backing up?)

My 05 didnt have this update, I received a recall notice to take my truck into the dealer to have the update installed. Dealer explained what it would do, and I told him I didnt want it on my truck. From what I hear its kinda a pain.

It is a pain but if your truck ever does have an issue and jumps out of park and someone gets hurt it is going to be on you because you refused the recall. I just threw a switch in the horn circuit.

thanks guys. I wil use some butt conectors. I accidently sound my horn almost weekly even knowing it will honk. my neighbors hate it, and so do I.

thanks

I fixed both mine and my sister-in-law's trucks in a matter of minutes. Cut a paperclip so you just have a "U", unplug the connection between the driver's seat and console, push the paperclip in, and reconnect the plug.
