Howdy all,

I'd like to ask you all to please make any and all recommendations for seat covers for my 2001 Quad Cab 2500 with the 40/20/40 (I think) split front seats and the rear seat. I currently have cloth interior (SLT Laramie package), and want to get really tough seat covers for it.

Purty pleez with whip cream and a cherry on top?? I saw some in the most recent Geno's catalog which came with Issue 30 of the TDR magazine, but haven't had the time to really check them out yet.

Many thanks to any suggestions.

Tom

Tom, I believe the BEST seatcovers are found here: http://www.wetokole.com/. They are not cheap, but you would be hard pressed to find better ones. #ad

Many? members have these. They are very happy with them.

I got the Dodge covers from Mopar4Less.com. $175 for the set. They fit very good and are a heavy canvas material. Time will tell how they hold up. I am sure there are other members that have been using them longer.

Questions for anyone that has the wetokole seatcovers. How do they deal with the center console? Do the covers insulate the leather seats? I am out in the cold everyday but man, I hate sitting on that cold seat.

I'll second the nod to Wet Okole. I've had these covers for over a year now and they still looks great despite being abused by two large dogs. They are waterproof, available in many color combos, and you can even get a ram logo sewn in the seat back. They fit tight and look great.

The covers are made of neoprene (wetsuit material). It is an excellent insulating material. I have cloth seats but I don't think you would be able to tell cloth from leather with the covers on. I have my console covered on the lower section up to the lid. There is a Velcro "hook" tape sewn into the cover at the top of the lower section . The hooks secure well to the fabric of the console, in my case. A self-stick "loop" tape is included for those applications with leather. I think mine came with a cover for the lid but I did not install it.

I agree with HEMI Dart about the Wet Okole seat covers. They are custom fitted for your particular vehicle and they make them to fit jump seats etc. They are made of the same material as wet suits. High quality stuff.

I went to a shop that does only sheepskins. Got the Aussie ones. He cut and sewed them to fit perfectly including the middle seat. Didn't cover the armrest/storage gizmo. We wanted to protect the factory upholstery and like the insulation and feel of the wool. No sweat. Really.

For the back seat, I went to a local upholster, and he ordered some auto material that matched the agate interior so well you can't tell! #ad
He used hog rings and showed me how to slip it off later on when the dogs ruin it (not soon I hope).....

Costs vary on quality that you want. Phoney 'skin's go for $49/pair, real ones $140/pair to $300. Got my rear seat done for $120. Looks nice and feels good too. BUT and this is a big BUT, I'm worried about working on the truck, crawling on the ground, and jumping in the truck without thinking! It's gonna happen. I don't want it to, but I know it will.

Try Geno's garage for the chino covers around 100 bucks,I've had them for two years and like them a lot remove and toss in washer but dry at low heat as they tend to shrink some.

Question for members with the Wet Okole seat covers:

How easy are these covers to clean?

I had some covers made by a local auto upholsterer. I told him that I wanted something that would come off easily for washing. (We have dogs too. ) I got some nice covers, but it's a real job to take them off, and they won't stand up to washing well.

Can you clean the Wet Okole covers in the truck? How? I wouldn't mind spending the money if I could get something to protect the leather and still keep the truck looking good.

HEMI®Dart:

Thanks for the info on the seat covers. I ordered a pair yesterday from the factory in Costa Mesa Ca. I live about 45 minutes away and they will do the install for free next week. They look awesome and if you are a diver, you will appreciate the toughness of their product. Cannot wait to get them in!

The Wet Okoles are great, I have them in my Toyslowa work truck and the fit and detail is perfect. I think all the Okoles are made of neoprene (mine are) and are waterproof. After 2 years mine still look new, the only thing I didn't like was the strong rubbery smell in my truck for about a month after install, other than that there the best covers I've had. Keep the phrase 'you get what you pay for' in mind when you price them out, they ain't cheep.
