Seat motor & gear repair

Is there a consensus about repairing electric seat mechanisms? My drivers seat in my 08' quad cab will only move forward and rearward. The motors run for the other functions but there is no corresponding movement. Are the gears and clutches available or is it cheaper to buy replacement seats? My fabric and padding are in excellent condition, I have always had seat covers over front and rear.

The motors are not available through Fca,you must buy the complete adjuster assy-not cheap

Might be cheaper swapping in some 4th gen seats....

There is are a couple places that sell brass replacement gears. Need to do my 06 but haven't gotten to it yet.

Thanks for the lead. I'll check that out. I am also researching replacement seats from a later model.

I found a thread over on "Ram Forum" http://www.ramforum.com/f49/best_seat_lift_repair-72364/ when my motor went out. Motors are not exactly the same when it comes to the electrical connections and the shaft, but that can be overcome. Plus, the motors are only $15!!!

I used these when the case on my original motor cracked.

I used them also and am very pleased with their product. I also took the opportunity to do some seat cushion work while replacing the motor.
