It is not difficult to remove the front drivers seat from your Third Generation truck and by now the always leftward lean of your seat likely needs attention.

So, what have you done to replace the seat?

Does the seat from the Dodge Challenger (recently drove a rental and the seat is much like the 2010 Heavy Duty truck) fit?

How about the seat from a 2009 1500 model truck?

Ideas?

Thanks in advance, Robert Patton

Ive always just gone to auto seat shop in local area and they have rebuilt mine... Usually their work is better than factory. .

I was told by a used truck salesman that the power seat wiring harness is the same for SLT power cloth seats and the Laramie leather heated seats. Any one know if this is true? If so it would make a relatively easy swap to the leather heated.

Considering that seats and seat mounts are fairly standardized throughout the industry these days, just about all seats can do a direct bolt-in swap.

I have considered going to an upholsterer and having them build a nice, comfy pair of seats for me and also improving the back seating as well. The rear seating in the Mega Cabs is even more uncomfortable than the front seats.

The Challenger seats ARE very nice, very comfortable, they should bolt up as well.

Still wanting to verify if the '09 1500 seats will bolt in to the Third Generation truck or will the Challenger seats fit... then I'll go looking for the seat at a junkyard.

Any ideas?

Thanks, RP

I am very interested in this as well... the seats in my Charger are very nice and the ones in the truck need some help.

Robert,

I can't answer about the Challenger seats, but the 1500 seats should fit on the lower track section, as the upper bolt holes measure the same width and length. I don't think the lowers will fit, as the floorboard has a different contour, but I'm not certain. I have the same thoughts about my '03, but no seats have become available at the right price... ... . I haven't been able to look at the Challenger seats, as if I got in one, I'd probably come home with it. There's a 6. 1L, in black, with 20in mags at Bonham Chrysler... ..... Oh Lord, give me the strength to resist temptation, so I don't get beat by the wife with a sucker-rod... ... .

I picked up a set of heated leather and swapped in place of the cloth in my SLT. The wireing harness is NOT the same as the wireing for the heaters must be added. Not a big deal to do though.
