Just got done doing the carpet and foam upgrade to all the seats. Kinda went over board on the drivers seat though. Power seat, with it all the way up my head is in the roof and my feet bearly hit the floor, oh well feels alot better.

Thanks to everyone one on this sight for the great info, helps us all get the itch to modify anything and everything. The best source of info I found is right hear. Oo.

I also did the foam up grade to my drivers seat... . just got home from a short camping trip. About 125 miles towing my fiver and the seat was GREAT!!! It used to kill my aching butt after a few short miles...

Eskimo1,

One of the members wrote a good article several issues back in the TDR magazine giving step-by-step instructions on how to install additional foam padding in the seats, supposed to be pretty easy to do.

If you don't have the older magazines, do a search on "seat foam" and there should be quite a few posts regarding this particular fix. Good luck

on the front seats the base comes off the track with just 4 10mm head bolts.

the cover just unhooks from the frame of the base seat. I used foam out of a old seat that came out of pickup. Just used a electric carving knife to add about 2 inches of foam to the bottom and added shaved foam to the raised areas on the side of the seat. I put carpet samples over the springs and reassembled everything. Drivers seat I did this several times with a short drive in between to get the right feel to me. The other front seat I just added an inch of foam and carpet. I also did the back seat for the kids, used the foam from the back of a pickup seat (added the whole thing), back seat looks like it came out of a old 50's cadillac. You really need at least one other person but 2 is even better to help pull and hold material when putting back together. Total cost was about 50 cents for the carpet samples, the rest came out of the junk yard, time about 3 hrs for all the seats.
