seats shaking

I have had the tires balanced, God knows how many times. Can not get rid of the shake that is noticable in the seats and floor pan, as well as tranfer case lever. The front end is tight ( all new). Wheels are true. Is there anything else I can check?

Shocks or a tire with a busted cord.

Applies to trucks with a build date before march 15 of 1996. Described as a vibration felt through the seat at varying speeds on a smooth road. You can actually see the passenger seat shake in my truck. The fix (on my to do list) is a reinforcing bracket under the rear bolts for the seat applied from under the truck. They must have beefed up the floor pan on the newer ones.

I installed new rancho 5000's on the front, however I have not put them on the back yet. The tire place swears up and down that there is no problem with the tires, they are new and the problem started before them. You can see the pasanger seat shaking when I drive down the road. It sucks. I will look into the tsb, altough it seams that it is more than a seat braket. I have heard that the driveline maybe the problem, but a the u-joints feel tight.

Tell me more about your custom wheels.

hub centric and you are probably ok. Lug centric that have the lug nut hole drilled out larger than the factory ones can be on the lugs off center.



What kinda wheels ya got?

what type of lug nuts do they use to attach to the hubs?



On the larger type wheels for 3/4 and 1 ton trucks the aftermarket will sometimes drill the lug nut holes out too large.



I have found on my Alcoa wheels that I have to mount the wheels using one lug nut at a time and center the wheel studs as close to the center of the holes as I can. This makes a profound difference in the shake. Matter of fact, after trying all kinds of wheels balancers and tire combinations. This was the only thing I could do to remove the dern shake.



You might give it a try.

BTW, shaking in the seat or floor pan is from the rear wheels nearly all the time.



Steering wheel shake is from the front wheels.

I have the exact same problem with my truck. When you figure it out let me know. I have brand new tires and rims on my truckand it still shakes.

Wow, I guss I am not the only one. The tire shop hates me. I got some new shocks for the back ( however I do not expect any change). I am going to inspect the motor mounts as well as the carrier bearing on the rear driveline. There has got to be a reason for the shake.

I have started to have the same problem. I'm runnin the 235 Coopers and they have been doing real well. 2 weeks ago I had the brakes done where they turned the rear drums. I'm wondering if it is possible that a balance tab could have been knocked off the drum when it was turned? My problem started when the drums were turned. I put in a new Con o clutch yesterday and asked the mech. what he thought about the shaking. Could be the balance of the drum and/or the tires, he said. I guess I'll work through it.

BTW! I have always had a slight shake in the passenger seat. This did not make it go away. I have a fair amount of driveline shutter under a load with my 96. It has 200K on an a factory original driveline. Truck has been pulled hard and I think things are just getting tired.

I HAVE NOTICED THAT ALMOST EVERYONE THAT HAS A SHAKER IS 4X4. MAY BE THE FRONT DRIVELINE IS CAUSING IT.

Front shaft doesn't turn unless 4x is engaged. I notice the symptoms in 2x at highway speeds.
