Looking to repaire or upgrade the seats on my 2004 quad Cab. Mainly just the front ones. The cushions are worn and badly collasping. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Would like to spend less than $1000. 00 on each seat as I have finally decided to keep this one instead of buying a brand new one$$$$$$ Although I do wish I had a mega cab with the 5. 9. Any way I need to start with the seats. LOL Replace or rebuild. Open to sugestions.

Also looking to replace the carpet.

It IS possible to retrofit the 2008-2012 seats into a 3rd gen. It is mostly plug n' play, though to fit the rear seats you need to shorten the seat frame brackets on the newer seats by a few inches and also cut a slot into the back of the truck cab to accept the newer rear seat brackets. Fronts are basically plug n' play as long as they match the style of aht you already have in your truck. There are several threads about the conversion on other dodge sites. Most people are of the opinion that the newere seats are MUCH more comfortable and supportive then the regular 3rd gen seats. You can find ads for them on Craigslist sometimes.
FYI--It is much easier to search multiple craigslist locations by using an aggregator like searchtempest.com.

Is it JUST ME??? but I find our 04. 5 seats to be VERY comfortable!! When traveling I DONT LIKE TO STOP and have driven many times from So Ca to MT non stop (except for fuel, coffee and to get rid of same coffee) most of the time about 20 hours and had no butt problems. Had some other seats in it and took them out and put the OEM back in. Look at National Seat you might find something in there you like.

Hey big were you "making good time", that why you don't stop? Told the wife but we are making good time, once! We make lots of stops now!

Carl you try Katskinz

No just poking along sometimes RVing and others HAULING A** without any trailer made it faster. But the wife gets JUST A LITTLE TICKED OFF when she say's she needs to stop and then 60 miles down the road she say's she would REALLY like to stop and then another 60 miles I hand her a Gator Aid bottle and give her a :D

Ask around about someone local that can rebuild the seats. My buddy has done that in both his old '92 and used the same guy to do his '96. On the '96 the guy was able to match the fabric to the passenger seat. The results were very good and better than stock. I want to say it was under $300 to do the drivers seat on the '96.

I think the stock seats are pretty comfortable myself. mine haven't started wearing to the point of replacement just yet but I would like to upgrade to the longhorn editions in my 06 mega cab when the time comes.

You can buy the bottom seat cushion by itself and then put whatever covering back on it you want. My '03 has a serious @$$ groove, but the fabric is still good. One of these days I will swap in a new bottom seat cushion and put an OEM fabric cover back over it. Hog ring pliers, hog rings, and basic hand tools are all that's needed besides a little patience.

I looked at the wetokole seat covers and realy like them. Thanks for the web link. Also looking to replace the very bad carpet. Any suggestions on which manufacturer to get the carpet from?
