Oo. I wrote this once and then hit "spell Check" and never saw my post again. My 2000 Dodge diesel has about 150k on the factory lift pump, probably about time for a change. I thought I would put a second lift pump in series down by the frame. The NAPA man says if one does this it would be necessary to disconnect a fuel sensor that goes to the original lift pump. NAPA man says his brother has done this on his Dodge and it works fine.



I guess my question after reading about 2nd in-series and some say works fine and others say don't do it, some say put them in parallel. I would like to hear the latest of what is the best thing to do? I have purchased a Carter lift pump and a 3# idiot or low pressure light indicator and have not started the project yet for fear of doing the wrong thing.



Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated. This time I am not hitting the "spell check" box and perhaps this will go forward... ... LOL

The pumps have to be in series unless you want to plumb in ck valves. There is no sensor for the lift pump. Running the stock lift pump and a second carter 7psi will net you about 20 psi at the injection pump. I would say a 3lb sw is too low A 7psi sw would make more sense 10 would be better but harder to find.

Back in ???? '87 I guess (Yr before the drought) I had a 1981 305 SBC in a half ton and it kept vapor locking on me. After setting along side the road too many times - I bought an aux elect pump and mounted inline down on the framerails. If the truck started bucking - I flipped the switch and all was fine.



I am sure that I didn't pay more then $40 for the pump back then I wouldn't think. I also have no idear what # it was. It wasn't more than my float needle/seat could handle tho. Ran super.



What's so bloody special aboot the pump on the B and why can'

t a feller just git a generic pump uptown?



(I just replaced mine two days ago with the $200 one. )
