I'm ready to install a new plate and probably will need to make a lever adjustment. I've read how to do it at Pier's site but am confused in exactly what spot to have the lever touch. Is it the very bottom at the transition between the angle and the horizontal surface ("A" in the attached file) or is it at the tip of the nose near the bottom ("B" in the attached file). For all I know it will be clear to me when I take it apart, but I just want to make sure I don't have any surprises.

It is "B" that you want to adjust it to. As the RPMs rise the rocker climbs towards the top(where it bolts to the injection pump) of the torque plate. You want to adjust it so that the rocker touches the plate just above the high point"B".

drawson is right but for the profile you have shown, I think A would be the spot. If it was a more agressive plate the length between A and B would be closer to horizontal and would have a better chance of hanging up so you'd place it at B.

I disagree with the "Zero plate" comment above. After the install of the 4K GSK my truck ran worse than stock until the lever arm adjustment was done. From the adjustment process it went right on the dyno and rolled 400hp. That would indicate there is merit in adjusting the arm but it doesnt always need it or make big improvements. I didnt have a ZERO plate either, only a lowly #11.

What's the difficulty level of this lever adjustment? Seems to be a blind operation (can't see what your doing kind of job)??

Cam lever

VVSMAN, I put in a PDR 3k kit yesterday and lost 40% of my boost. Called Piers and talked to both Peirs and Harry and they said set the cam lever about . 125 below the furthest point out. Somewhere between A and B on your illustration.

the ZERO plate is flat, so yes, there's no worry on the adjustment.

just remember to tighten the adjustment nut down tight so that it doesn't vibrate its way loose like it did to mine and ruined the pump.

Well, I took out my JRE #2 plate and put in a TST #4 slid forward another 1/16th. Lever was WAY off. Not even close to the bottom. So it had to be adjusted. Yes, it's a very blind operation and Tom I socked that lock nut down so hard it better not fall off. Now I have to go back in and slide it back a bit as it's hot and LOTS of smoke - even with both the AFC and star wheel back. Let's hope for cooler weather - Too hard to do this in 95 degree heat...

I have done it at least 6 times and I still consider it a PITA. I have found it needs to be done with most aftermarket plates to take full advantage of the plate.
