Secrets to good MPG

slow down on the highway and don't lay into the throttle very hard at any time...

I didnt read the report, but

My "formula" is to keep the truck as close to where the peak torque is, and that should be about the most efficient.

Of course, slow starts, and letting off the fuel when you see the red light, etc.

Pretty much drive the truck opposite of how everyone here runs their trucks. :-laf

Do all the normal Bombs exhaust intake etc then turn the fuel screw the wrong way and put a shock absorber on the throttle making it impossible to floor it in under 30 seconds

One of the best indicators for fuel economy is the boost gauge. The lower the boost the better the mileage - but tell that to the right foot :-{} .

Its the first thing I say every time somebody asks the question "How do I get good mileage with my CTD?". I must admit I plagurized it from the TDR Magazine and its writers and give credit where credit is due. I think it was Joe Donnelly that coined it but not sure. The article went thru all the normal things done to improve mileage and at the end refered to the quote as the single largest contributor of higher mpg the author could think of.

I've learned to drive...

It has taken me 22-months to learn how to drive my CTD for fuel mileage consistancy. Combination:18mpg, freeway:22mpg keeping between 65-70mph.

Smiles per gallon when I get into it Oo. It's a fun truck, and I know it could be a heck of a hotrod as a BOMB. Thanks to everyone for stories, humor, and advice, I read more than I write, Patrick
