One of my friends had his nice chrome Manik brush guard stolen off the front of his chevy in his own driveway. I'm going to get one for my RAM and I was trying to think of a way to make it unstealable. Do you guys have any ideas?

Do the words "tack weld" help

I would drive it around for a week then retorque the bolts before tack welding the bolt heads to the gaurd.
Another thing that might work-if you park on a dirt driveway, hook an electric fence charger up to your rig,one leg to the dirt ground the other to your truck. This would also help to keep dogs from ******* on your tires.

My only issue with welding it is that if the truck ever gets totaled, my insurance policy lets me keep all the aftermarket stuff. If I weld them, then I don't think I'll be able to get it off without cutting it.

I like the idea of welding it, but it is just in case I need to take it off

Mark,if you just tack the bolt heads you can grind off the welds in a few seconds. When I tack a bolt it's just a short bead on one flat of the head, much stronger than Loctite.

Thanks... I'll do that then.

Another option I used to secure my Warn Enforcer winch bumper and Warn 12000 lb. winch to one of my prior 4Xs... . after torquing the mounting hardware I applied JB Weld to the exposed bolt threads and nuts. As most of you know, this stuff sets up like concrete. The rationale behind NOT using the tack weld method (in this instance) was bolt strength. You WILL compromise fastener strength if you tack weld the bolt AND/OR nut. However, strength may or may not be an issue with your specific accessory or its intended usage. Just wanted to warn others that may be mounting a combo brush guard/winch mount... . strength is paramount.
