Hello. I'm a new member(about 2 weeks) with an '03 2500 LWB quad cab. I have the keyless entry on it, but it didn't come with an alarm. Is it possible to add the factory security system now, ie, are the all ready there? Also, are these "sentry" keys tied into it?

thanks,

jeff

Welcome! It is possible to add the security system but I'm not sure about the special key thing. The security module plugs in the same place your key-less entry did, dealer said they stack.

And from what I understand, you get a "better" system as the factory one doesnt have internal (inside the cab) infared or what ever they are using to trigger that comes with the dealer after-market. And try to "deal" with them on the price (its only x$ if would have been factory installed) etc, etc.....

Alarm info..Thanks

Thanks for the info--Hope to try this AFTER :

AFE or Scotty Air

guages(pre/post turbo, trans temp, boost)

Adjustable Torque Dog and/or SuperChips

Hopefully I can get it for somewhere around 200... Like the accessories pricing.

thanks again

jeff

security alarm

when I purchased mine, had the same, keyless entry but no alarm, :--) so one of the "negotiating points" with the salesman was to have this added, agreed and it was done/ use the same keyless remote, but when I lock it it beeps and turns on alarm. little light on dash tells you its activated, and it works just fine! I was pleased with both the install and the alarm itself!:p good luck

Get the MOPAR EVSII and you know it will work. No cutting and splicing of wires, it just plugs in. If you have keyless entry the 82208216 kit has interior theft, panic, sentry key with electronically coded keys for $200. 00 retail. If you do not have keyless entry, you need 82207153 in addition, for $99. 00 retail. I have worked on plenty of vehicles with some kind of aftermarket alarm, and many are junk. I like to stick with the stuff I know will work.

Sentry key needed?

Sag2,

Do you know if you have to use the sentry key with that system?

I have keyless entry and want the alarm feature, but don't want the sentry keys.

thanks,

jeff

JFulford, I don't know if you were asking me or not, but as I said I have the keyless entry and thats all I use. Not even sure what the sentry keys are!? I use the same ignition keys and the same keyless entry remotes that came with the truck, (wife's key and remote were in her car when evsII was added by the dealer and they still work and activate alarm).

Hope this help's :--)

It looks like there is a base system for trucks without power locks. Does not appear to be anything in between. The base kit is $180. 00 plus $38. 00 for the wiring harness, so you are better off getting the package listed above.

Go to mopar.com and check them out. The site is currently having trouble, might be the power outage back east.

alarm install

Thanks, guys! I have the keyless entry all ready, and it sounds like I can get away with the $200 system but not use the sentry key feature(all ready have 5 keys). Sounds like a simple install.

thanks again,

jeff
